Devils advocate, there are a lot of starting qbs who took years to get good. Two of which were panthers at one point. Bryces deal is he doesnt have those guys measurables.

This, Bryce lacks NFL physical traits, and physical ability. 

Be as smart as you wanna be, if you can't consistently and accurately attack all three levels of the defense your offense will be limited.

Tepper tends to make bad decisions, so I think he’ll probably at minimum pick up the 5th year option just to save face.

I’d decline it if I were in charge. I’d let him play out the 4th year. If he excelled I’d consider franchising him to see if he could do it 2 years in a row. Only then would I even consider a long term deal.

If he was insulted thats fine because I’d already have a potential back up already on the roster who I had drafted early in the 2026 or 2027 draft or acquired by trade.

You can tell even with his approach going into this year, he desperately wants Bryce to work, and to the detriment to our team.  Even with the last-season surge last year, he should’ve hedged his bets and brought in a legitimate QB or developmental prospect to compete with Bryce.  So yeah, I fully expect him to give the 5th year option, and probably not bring in any competition.

Not allowing Canales  to bring in a legit QB to compete for the starting job would be yet another bad Tepper decision. We have to many glaring needs on defense so I would use that first pick on defense. If a promising prospect dropped into round 2 I’d take him in a heartbeat. If he was talented he probably be ready to start in 2027, and possibly sooner if the counties to improve on both sides of the ball.
