Devils advocate, there are a lot of starting qbs who took years to get good. Two of which were panthers at one point. Bryces deal is he doesnt have those guys measurables.

This, Bryce lacks NFL physical traits, and physical ability.

Be as smart as you wanna be, if you can't consistently and accurately attack all three levels of the defense your offense will be limited.

Tepper tends to make bad decisions, so I think he’ll probably at minimum pick up the 5th year option just to save face.

I’d decline it if I were in charge. I’d let him play out the 4th year. If he excelled I’d consider franchising him to see if he could do it 2 years in a row. Only then would I even consider a long term deal.

If he was insulted thats fine because I’d already have a potential back up already on the roster who I had drafted early in the 2026 or 2027 draft or acquired by trade.

You can tell even with his approach going into this year, he desperately wants Bryce to work, and to the detriment to our team.  Even with the last-season surge last year, he should’ve hedged his bets and brought in a legitimate QB or developmental prospect to compete with Bryce.  So yeah, I fully expect him to give the 5th year option, and probably not bring in any competition.

But but but Bryce needs more time, and better coaching, and a top 5 defense, and All-pro receivers, and pro bowl running backs and a HOF tight end, and the most expensive line money can buy, or he is just not going to develop his potential. See that's all the Panther's fault.

if we build that team we would be the eagles and I'd be ecstatic with that

Not allowing Canales  to bring in a legit QB to compete for the starting job would be yet another bad Tepper decision. We have to many glaring needs on defense so I would use that first pick on defense. If a promising prospect dropped into round 2 I’d take him in a heartbeat. If he was talented he probably be ready to start in 2027, and possibly sooner if the counties to improve on both sides of the ball.

I think his football IQ is well below average. I do not think he can read defenses at all. He is not the long term answer. I'm getting worried about DC. I think he has problems seeing the big picture for each game. Some people can't accept it, but this game is greatly affected by momentum. It's hard to explain but you can just feel his decisions break it at least two or three times a game (I think he is pretty solid when it comes to 4th down decisions).

My biggest concern is this. You have seen these coaches time and time again. For some reason you have these coaches that absolutely will not go with what is working. We need a name for these coaches, what is it? If something is working great, they just do not have the intelligence to comprehend that something working is actually good for their team. They cannot understand this. AND REPORTERS NEED TO CALL THIS OUT. Rushing was insane for the past two games...ok let's take half his carries away and have Bryce air it out (look at the attempts he had). The reporters need to freaking ask "((this)) was working, you didn't do ((this)), do you consider that bad coaching? If so, why? If not, why do you defend doing the opposite of what it best?"

Anyone knows you keep doing something until they stop it. But you have these coaches that think the are going to pull a fast one on them and do the thing that is not working. Dave is starting to remind me of that guy in the movie Kung Pow. I think his name was Weeblow or something, he had those squeaky shoes when he ran around. The Kung Fu masters trained him wrong as a joke, so he did things to get the crap beat out of him instead of winning the fight. I am going to start calling Dave Canales WEEBLOW if he keeps doing the opposite of what would win. But seriously, if he is going to be that type of coach, I would honestly get rid of him after this season. You 100% do not want a coach with this flaw...they may have one good fluke season but it will be years of terrible teams.

I think they'll split the middle with competition. I'm fairly confident that Carolina drafts another QB next year. But not in the 1st round, but like a good measurables guy in the 3rd-5th rounds. That way, they bring in another young guy, but a mid round pick won't effect any 1st round decisions for 2027.

I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...

Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it

    • Here is how Morgan is strategic-He re-signs Scott because he was not going S in round 1--he had the chance, and he did not.  He saw the top of the draft at T and knew none of them would be ready to start day 1, so he signs a veteran to a one-year deal, giving his tackle selection a chance to learn and prepare for what might be LT or RT.  Those two moves suggested, perhaps ironically because they contradict each other, what he was going to do, based on the talent pool.  He never brought in a Robinson replacement at DE/NT, and then moves up to draft one.   I almost wonder if the intent was to draft DT/DE all along at some point, maybe with a trade back, but then Freeling dropped to them.   Of course, we felt that they were looking WR, and wonder if the plan was to draft a WR in round 2 if you traded back in round 1.  However, when Freeling was there, the trade back fell apart.  Then we traded up for Hunter.  We could stick with XL and hope Metchie steps up, so we sat still in round three and took Brazell II, a 1000 yard speedster and perfect Z WR.  What a break. At that time, CB and Center were our biggest needs, and with several possible centers on the board and a good fit for our defense at CB, we grabbed Will Lee III.  Lee and Thornton have people in front of them, but I think Morgan knew we needed a guy who can play the outside and press--and probably step in as Jackson's replacement in 2027.    After making trades to get back into the fifth round, where we grabbed one of the best centers in the draft.  This is significant because we signed Fortner to a one-year deal; maybe Morgan saw what some of us saw--the center position is strong in this draft--on day 3, and day 3 players need a year, in most cases.  Moments later, a safety they had been talking to whose skill set matched what we are looking for in a FS.  As stated, Scott was signed,  but the fact that the Panthers were talking to Wheatley and not Theiemann means that they might have known they were not going FS early, but would need a developmental FS later--which explains why we signed Scott.  So if you pay attention to the one-year, vet deals, you can tell where we planned to sign later-round, developmental players.  What positions did we draft early that did not have 1-year veterans signed in front of them:  DL (Hunter) and WR (I don't count Metchie because I count starting-level players). I would not be surprised to learn later that the plan was DT and WR in rounds 1 and 2--then Freeling fell.  Notice that Freeling--from Mt Pleasant SC, did not come in for a visit.  Most of the other OT candidates had short arms or were certain to be gone. I don't think Freeling was in their plans.  I think a trade back and Hunter and maybe Boston was the vision.  I am guessing that CB was also high on their list.   So in this draft, we got
    • This is one area I think that is not getting enough exposure in the midst of all the optimism. I like Chuba a great deal from a personal standpoint but he has largely proven nothing on a consistent basis yet. He's had the one season of production but before that most people pegged us as moving on. And last year injuries or not he just did not have that juice. The rest of the guys are completely unproven. I don't see anyone among the group having a game or a handful of games worth of high level production the way Rico Dowdle did last year. And yeah he dropped off and yeah he got an attitude about our incompetent handling of the touches which was honestly justified on his part and he moved on but he did legitimately save our season. That's what it is going to take to seize control of the NFC South. We all know that we will not be passing all over defenses. It is what it is. So who amongst this RB group is capable of doing that? And if we are struggling to run the ball AND pass are we going to revert to making excuses for our coach and QB again? That is definitely getting old.
