I wanted Fields. I was wrong. He is terrible. His time in the league isn’t going to last much longer. He’s not accurate at all, and he’s slow to diagnose a play.

That’s his main issue and it just doesn’t seem like he’s ever going to figure it out

Tools wise it’s all there but his inability to diagnose or see things is what’s going to end his time in the league

If that were true the Geno Smith stories would be all over the place. Also, the league would be flooded with extremely capable QB's, which it assuredly is not.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure some QB's have literally been ruined by their circumstances. David Carr comes to mind. But I do think that is the far rarer case.

Most of these guys just aren't good enough. It is what it is.

Exactly.  If you logically step through it, that would mean that QB prospects would be a commodity and the real value would be in coaching staffs and whatnot.  The salaries of coaches and trainers would reflect that.  But it’s not like that.  Because the premium asset is the QB himself.

David Tepper was spot on when he said that you need a GM, a HC, and a QB. Everything else is a want. Yeah, an elite WR is nice but plenty of good offenses don't have one. Same with an elite pass rusher or CB. You need a good OL but you don't necessarily have to have a franchise LT to field one. There's no other individual roster spot that you have to have a stud outside of QB. Tepper was right about GM, HC, and QB. He's just been abysmal at putting the pieces together even though we let two starting QBs slip through our fingers because we didn't have the GM or HC in place.

TBD on if we have the GM or HC now.  I’m pretty doubtful on HC but I have to give Dan some props for this past offseason.  It wasn’t perfect but the supporting cast is definitely improved.  The early draft picks look much better.  Jury’s still out.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying we've got the pieces in place for sure, I just don't want Tepper to get antsy and clean house again without giving these guys a fighting chance. Bryce playing like this very well might get these guys fired because the losses are gonna start piling up against better competition. If the losses are piling up but we're competing that's one thing. But if the losses are piling up and the offense is looking completely anemic that might be the end of the road.

I think it's the same crowd that was also pining after Anthony Richardson. It's the Forever Cammers that literally think every physical freak of a running QB is the next Cam.

Cam was great not because he was an insane athlete but a very good QB, as well. Most of these athletic freaks don't magically become a Cam, Lamar, Josh Allen, etc.

I've said before that I think a lot of the folks looking for "the next Cam" don't understand just how unique Newton really was.

It's likely to be a loooong time before we see anything close to Newton again.

Allen is/was basically that guy. He played the most like Cam I have ever seen but he also changed the way he played the game specifically for longevity. Also not the level of athlete Cam was either.
