They're certainly playing well albeit admittedly against weak competition so far. We'll see how it holds up as the schedule gets tougher. Either way, the defense is certainly improved from last year's mess.

You’re either slow or just not willing to give credit where credit is due!!! I know you’ve been here forever I know you typically take things serious from my prior observations from other post but Linville I need you front and center sir.
This defensive run started with a Got Dam dominate performance against a top 5 offense ATL….. We followed that up by dominating defensively the run game and containing the Number one offense in the NFL. That line about playing weak competition is so far left field yes we’ve played bad teams but we’ve also played A1 teams as far as offense goes so let’s give these boys more then just credit let’s give them their just due louder then we gave them the disrespect last season for the sudden change and outstanding work they’ve been doing so far this year!!!!

Bills pass defense ranked 2nd

Bills rush defense ranked 31st

We won’t have to rely on Dalton’s arm to be competitive.

I’m pretty sure the Bills are going to sell out to stop the run and allow Andy to throw it all around. We should definitely run it but I’m certain they’re going to stack the box and probably play man vs these young WRs. Our main contributors are second year and first year WRs across the board Sean probably going to have them beat us if anybody but definitely not let Rico do what Bijan did two weeks ago

Drake London also torched them in that game, though.

Our opponents have poor records, but that should now overshadow just how impressive this defense has been. Yeah the Jets are winless, but they can put up points in bunches. So far this season, the Panthers are the only team to hold the Jets to single digits in points:

Saying the D is improved from last year is giving credit where credit is due. Our opponents are a combined 18-29-1. Our overall schedule has been very weak so far. It is what it is. I look forward to seeing how they can play against consistently better competition as the schedule ramps up.

Honestly, they've been playing at the level of their opponents. That can be maddening at times, but it's working for us now.

We were better against Dallas than the score shows. Let's hope we can do the same with Buffalo, just do enough to stay one scoring opportunity ahead of them. Our best shot there is that the game becomes an ugly slugfest dictated by the running backs and that we somehow keep Josh Allen bottled up.

This is probably our toughest test of the entire season. If we squeak out a win somehow, then Canales and (I can't believe I'm saying this) Evero deserve some serious kudos.

Still, on that defensive ranking, we're buoyed greatly by playing the Jets last week.

Buffalo is not playing like an elite team. That New England team that whipped us is also not that good of a team.

We will see how it goes.

    • Olsen was with Chicago 3 or 4 years and took a while to bloom. I remember wishing we could get him at 25 n 2007 but we took Beason. Couldn’t complain about that. I would really love to get a Jon Beason level ILB this draft.  We have 4-5 other positions that could really use some 1st round talent.  I feel like there will be someone at 19 at one of those positions with talent comparable to Sadiq.  I am not gonna argue individuals really, I have done no research. Just philosophy. Address the holes unless it just isn’t close.
    • The Raiders have completed a second interview with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The team has complied with the Rooney Rule after interviewing Evero and former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, who appears headed to the Chargers as offensive coordinator. That allows the Raiders to hire a new coach at any time. Evero has served as the Panthers’ defensive coordinator since 2023, first taking the job under former head coach Frank Reich. While Carolina finished at the bottom of the league defensively in 2024, Evero helped turn the unit around to finish No. 16 in yards and No. 15 in points allowed in 2025. Evero has coordinated two top-10 defenses — first with what the Broncos in 2022 (No. 7 in yards allowed) and then with the Panthers in 2023 (No. 4 in yards allowed). He has also worked for the 49ers, Packers and Rams. The Raiders also have Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, 49ers offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula and Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb among their candidates. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/raiders-complete-second-interview-with-panthers-dc-ejiro-evero
