QBs that would cost next to nothing and are better than anything we currently have.

I truly believe we don’t need to look for another QB in the draft.  We keep trying and failing.  We had two elite QBs in Mayfield and Dalton.  Trying to get a good QB in draft is 1/10 chances.  Through FA 5/10 IMO.  Rather than waiting on draft or continuing to Hope and pray BY gets better.  Let’s go get our next QB now while they are cheap.

I have thoughts but would also like your evaluation and thoughts.  I’m sure there are diamonds in the rough and all can be had for nothing higher than a 4th round pick and 4 mil / year.  This would free us up for big lineman on both sides and great skill positions.

1. Jameis Winston - big arm, mobile, gun slinger, great attitude

2. Malik Willis - big arm, looked great in his appearances last year for GB

3. Mac Jones (once Purdy comes back) - has been a good replacement and has SF at 5-2

Maybes - Sanders, Wilson, Garappolo, Mariota

thoughts?

I think Mac Jones needs Shanahan. Not a great list.  I would probably pick Mariota if i had to chose one. Considering where we are likely to pick, i think we should consider Simpson in the first or Nussmeir in the second.

It is really difficult...Darnold and Baker did not get good, the found a system and supporting cast...Traditionally, we do not have a system in which QBs tend to prosper.

I don't like having a QB room that is not competitive.  In my view, you draft a QB and then you keep trying to beat him out with newer qbs...when they cost $240m, you do not settle by paying a mediocre qb that kinda money.  You find a qb you'd gladly pay that much for.

The constant competition is something most positions go through but it seems like the QB is coddled . Like you, I prefer players prove it every day. Competition is like some kind of growth serum.

    • It would depend on how we lost... If we lose a bunch of 17-13 . 20-7 type games where the defense plays well and offensively Bryce is sh***TING the bed...then he wouldn't get fired.  If we are losing 40-9, 38-14 type games..then yeah it's a possibility.   Couple that with our tough schedule.. if we show well in lets say half those games.. win either Seattle or New England game, at least 1 win vs division oponents.. he's good.  So imo.. to get fired he needs to : Loose badly against the top tier teams ie Blown out Show no progress offensively from last year. Show an unwillingness to bench Bryce again if he is horrible over multiple games ..  Get swept by the Saints again.
    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
