Or as a coaching staff. Canales literally benched him 2 games into his tenure. I think this coddling narrative is a little overblown. And how good is a FA that's sitting at home not on a team, or being waived in the offseason? Probably not as good as we're thinking.

Canales was basically forced to act. Thielen and Johnson were pitching public fits. Who knows what was happening in the locker room when that is happening in full view.

It really does appear that they sheltered him from competition.

Top 11 QBs getting paid, male more than 50 million a year.

Bryce's 5th year option looks like a deal at only 25 million.

Picking.up his 5th year is a no trainer for the franchise.

Most of those QBs got their extension following year 3 of their rookie deal. Lamar is the only one that played on his 5th year. No guarantee Bryce or his agent would agree to the option based on what’s happened with other QBs.

Not a great comparison. You could likely enter every pro golf tournament for a decade and not demonstrate pro-caliber ability.

Bryce has demonstrated that he is capable of playing QB in the NFL at a high level; he just hasn't demonstrated that he can do it consistently.

I have to disagree with your statement that Bryce has proven he’s capable of playing at a high level. He’s done it maybe 2-3 times out if 30+ games, so they are outliers until he does it a couple of times.
And maybe we grade differently, imo the game against the Rams was far from great. I loved the two 4th down conversions, but the rest of the game was meh. Kyle Allen and a lot of other backups have also had a few good games. But that is not enough to prove you belong.

this is what people dont seem to realize pull up kyle allen matt moore tyler heinecki stats they are better than byoungs but everyone says he is great and they all sucked.  young has had a few good games but the young that shows up 95% of the time is 150 passing and an int and a fumble and a td either rushing or passing...not the worse qb in the nfl but somewhere between 20th and 28th.

Worse than that you shouldn’t have a job. If you do they are looking for a way out.
Seriously, This season I see three games. Dallas Atlanta LA Rams.  There are 10 other games of not so great. Why don’t people see this?

Hopium is a hellava drug.

Anyone sold on Bryce at this point is just being willfully ignorant.

Not saying with 100% certainty that he won't pan out at some point but I don't think we have the luxury of waiting another 4-6 seasons for that to happen, if that were even a possibility.

Kyle Allen threw 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 2019. Taylor Heinicke played 1 game for us and threw for 320 yards on 60 attempts, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. Matt Moore threw 5 touchdowns and 10 picks on 55% in 2010 when he won the starting job.

You really think those are better stats, be honest?

No but I would expect by year 3 to show more consistency and elite traits to prove when we did not make a mistake taking him first overall. Bryce is improving far too slowly.

Bryce youngs first year stats 2877 yards 11td 10 ints 5.2ypa 11fumbles

With the eye test I think all of them looked better than byoung, looking at first few starts.  Panthers have stuck by byoung for 3 years even though its debatable whether they should or not.  I think all of them have had moments where they looked just as good as young has, young has had alot more chances to show his moments.  If you look at the entire stats of them they are not as good as youngs entire 3 years.  Do I want any of them to start for the panthers not at all.  Young sucks and they suck.  Hopefully young proves me wrong and I eat my words as the panthers go deep into the playoffs.
