I think need is always factored into the BPA equation. I mean, of course every team is always going to claim their draft pick was the BPA on their board. It's not like a team is ever going to admit that they passed on perceived better talent to take a player based on need but I think "BPA" really means "BPA for our team" and that factors in things like roster need, scheme fit, etc. that aren't necessarily related to pure talent level.

Oh absolutely.  There's a spectrum of how heavily it weighs.

Teams always keep this in mind when they're building their boards and tier-boxing.

Let's see how FA shakes out - I think our Panthers tax will be a lot lighter this year, along with player interest. Hopefully our offseason shakes out to BPA possibilities

I'm hoping one of these young FA qb's see what Canales has done for Young(whether real or not), it might entice them into considering signing here. I can dream dammit!

I really dont see this pick

Can never have enough big men but i would think Edge, best oline or best linebacker

Id be fine  if the whole  draft was  best available linemen for depth    Oline getting beat up, older, and free agents

Also panthers might finish with a win or two more of course

15. Carolina Panthers: Peter Woods, DT, Clemson

The Panthers were ready to pounce on Mason Graham had he slid in last year’s draft, and they could look at defensive tackle again in this year’s first round.

Woods needs to turn the “almost” moments into more impact plays, but he is a nimble big man with a lot of promise to develop into a game-wrecker.

I know people like to deem me the ultimate Clemson homer, but I rarely have ever been a fan of most first round type Clemson players.   Clemson has had a lot of DL players in the past decade or so go pro and go in the first round.  I have to say, this current group at Clemson is the least impressive bunch to come out of Clemson.

Woods never lived up to his hype at Clemson.

Depending on where I pick is, I wouldn't mind trading down if we can pick up a couple of extra day 2 picks if there isn't anyone we're really stuck on. We need some help right where some of the more secure positions get filled. I think we need a true center, possibly another swing depending on how BC recovers, a safety (sorry Nick Scott), LBs, possibly another OG depending on if Mayes stays or goes and hopefully Zavala goes. I know we need an edge or 2 and I wouldn't mind a QB if one with the system potential is there without reaching. This year I feel like we need some quantity with some of the safer spot picks.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
