Tepper is learning… I like this version of him

well, the Colts are winning.  Heck, they are surprising or were.   My guess that has a lot to do w/ something not okay being totally okay for the moment.  And the PR machine likely is running really hard for her at the moment.

It's weird stuff.  I mean, she was in the HC hip pocket working Rivers on the practice field.  Really weird.  I still would be willing to play the odds when things go south.....we find out there is more than one bonkers person in the Isray family tree.

Yep, all of thus. As the old saying goes winning cures everything. But they're not winning right now and I don't see that changing with Jones out now and who knows how much of next season he might miss, plus the whole contract situation and being down two 1st rounders. It might be about to get real messy in Indy.

Relevant Quote:

A tip of the hat to Dave Canales and Dan  Morgan and and company for what we're building here in Carolina.

It's fair to point out that Tepper is speaking primarily about the culture aspect of the team, but his wording at least (what we've building here) can validly be interpreted as sounding optimistic in general and quite possibly including the football part of things.

Mind you, that doesn't necessarily affect my feelings about Tepper, but it is the kind of thing I'd file away in memory for future reference.

if anything occurs we/someone doesn't like it's all David Tepper's doing.  If something good happens, Tepper was hands off.  That's seems to be the general logic applied w/ Dave for some time.

I think Tepper is probably an average owner in terms of involvement.   I think he just really botched the big hires and the big hires did a bad job personally.

Maybe by now he’s learned a bit to not meddle but he absolutely was not an average owner in the pre draft process with Bryce. He and Nicole were wayyy too hands on and meddling more than anyone except Jerry jones

We would have been much better off with an owner that was from here. He will siphon as much public money as he can from the area or he will leave.

Ehh. Any billionaire was going to leech. I actually think we're better off with Tepper since he's heavily invested here between the Panthers and CLTFC. It would be difficult and costly for him to leave town.

Tepper gets a bad rap mostly because the team hasn’t been successful. But across the league, most owners aren’t great; they just get lucky hiring smart people who make them look good. There are some truly awful owners, but Tepper is no were near Stephen Ross or Woody Johnson. its are levels to this.

I think the biggest reason why David Tepper gets a bad rap is because he does things to deserve it 😐

It's genuinely possible that he's learned though, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt that he is at least capable of doing so.

I like to think I'm one of those guys who just is who he is whether people like me or hate me (Stone Cold archetype, if you will).

Granted, I also like to think I'm handsome and charming, but hey... 😕

Tepper got nothing on the old Colts owner or the new one.

Not only is she in a full head set on the sidelines every game with the coaching staff.  You got her at the practice w/ the HC working on Rivers lol. I don't know when it is going to happen but something crazy is going to go down in Indy sometime in the near future IMO.

I mean, wait til the Colts hit a rough spot.

Imagine this place if Nicole got involved as much as Ms. Irsay

    • For me, no issue going WR - as long as he can tackle when we move him to MLB
    • He was pretty highly touted that year by all the draftniks. But he's one of those small school guys who you do have to pay attention to his workout numbers since he was playing against lower level competition. All his draft hype was about his great athleticism and potential, then he went to the Combine and posted very pedestrian measurable. 5.33 40 time, 29.5" vertical, 26 reps on the bench. Overall he had the 19th ranked athleticism score among DTs that year. No one would've been complaining in hindsight about drafting a DT had we drafted Chris Jones who was picked 8 spots after we drafted Butler.
    • We have one of the best young WR duos in the league with TMac and Coker. Could use a solid vet #3 option, but that's not terribly hard to find. You could make the argument that every other part of the roster needs long term upgrades before WR. OT - Icky injured, Moton aging, big question mark moving forward here Interior OLine - OG is great but center position is a big question mark, with injuries stacking up on Corbett and BC, and Mays being a free agent  (could definitely change though if we re-sign Mays) RB - Dowdle most certainly gone, not suggesting spending a 1st on RB but still, need a replacement here TE - Meh overall, basically have three guys who are backup #2 level TEs, could use a top end starter QB - lol LBer - horrible group, definitely needs upgrades Secondary - Mike Jackson could be playing himself out of our price range and 100% could use a new FS Edge - Scourton looks promising long term but need more here in this unit, obvious weak spot DT - Brown is a beast, but outside of him very thin   WR is the ONE position on the entire roster where we're actually looking great moving forward lol TLDR --> this mock is retarded
