But for us, that's a major improvement. Whether we like it or not, right now we have a young QB that hasn't really proved he can be a major force in the league, just given us some very tantalizing scraps here and there. The kid has moxy, but sometimes gets caught up in small ball rather than taking over the game. And that won't get us very far, until it does, somehow, like it has this season.

The biggest, most contentious and maddening thing is that you look at Bryce, then look at how Darnold and Mayfield, heck, even Mac Jones did after getting out of cesspool coaching situations and then wound up spending a season with San Francisco or the Rams and suddenly they become world beaters after spending some time with a good HC, QB coach, OC and a top end QB ahead of them.

Now, if we could make a swap trade to San Fran for Mac Jones (who looks a thousand miles better than he did with the Pats and Jags) for a season, sending Bryce there for a tune up, we might do well. But we'd need a HC and play caller (two different positions) to make it work. Otherwise we'd be tuning up a car and then giving it to our grandma to drive.

Never heard of two teams doing that, but considering it will be a while before we have the NFCWest as opponents again...

I think Bryce is done in the NFL, personally. It will take years to fix him.

Every year or two it’s the same conversation. Multiple coaches, players, personnel. Tepper is the constant. Worst record in the NFL since 2017 I believe.

If Tepper and his wife keep evaluating coaches and players we can expect the same. He has no experience he needs to hire help.

He also needs that help to hire a coach that will challenge his ego. Give control to the right person (not Rhule) aka like the Jags. He doesn’t know how to do this and isn’t at a point in asking for help.

We can only hope soon, but after a decade y'all should know until he does, nothing matters.

Even if we bring in competition for Young, they will have to be great in order to unseat Young as a starter due to Tepper and the FO`s love for him. Idk if there would be any significant upgrades we could bring in that wouldnt put us in a bid war to unseat him. I think Bryce gets another year as starter and after another mediocre to below average year, Morgan will give him an extension to keep him here for at least another 2 years.

Lots of people have no idea just how disastrous the Young pick was. It will be a decade long`s worth of destruction to this franchise.

FWIW, Wash ran a 4-3 w/ odd fronts sprinkled in, as well as man & zone. He was much less of a bend/don’t break DC and feel like a bit more aggressive than Evero.

I bet Wash understands how to maximize his defensive studs like Brown, Horn, & Moehrig. We need a more opportunistic unit that gets off the field on third downs, creates pressure and turnovers.

Adding an off-ball alpha LB opposite Wallace and a stud on the line next to DB will do wonders for this D.

I think Dan hit a home run with the 2025 draft class. McMillian and Scourton are going to be on this team for a long time. Ryan Fitzgerald has been money. To me he bought himself into the next coaching regime if Canales is fired after a disappointing 2026 season.

Depends...is DM going to be 2025 Morgan or 2024 Morgan...

Well, he gets another shot at it.

See, here's the thing. The same people that said Baker sucked, that Darnold sucked, the even Bridgewater sucked... they're the same ones saying Bryce sucks. And yeah, while I see a litany of deficiencies, I also see that the naysayers have been terribly wrong in the past.

Darnold still sucks and Bridgewater went on to leave here and accomplish nothing.

Mayfield was never bad, that was just being stupid.

You can hope and wish all day long but Bryce doesn't have a tenth of the talent or abilities of a single one of those QB's you mentioned. That's the difference. It isn't like he has all this upside to make people believe. He has almost none.

Good luck with your journey to finally realizing what most of the rest of the NFL world has already figured out.

No doubt. You look at what was lost in assets and what was spent chasing that bad investment, it will be substantial.
And the lost time. Coaxing 200 yards of passing out of this offense a few times a year… and believing you are getting somewhere. Repeat annually. The extension that will likely be awarded (OMFG, no!). The time it will take to dig out once they wake up to reality… you can get to ten years before you know it.

Man, my journey has been he was a poor choice in the beginning, that he has struggled and that now we're stuck in a situation where a few good games might either be just luck or that he's actually better than advertised but stuck in some really timid playcalling.

And I've said this time and time again, his ceiling is probably as a quality back-up QB. Still, for all that Darnold sucks, stuff, the guy will be on his couch watching games not because his team is out of the playoffs, but because he's led a team to first place in the conference and earned a bye. And the year before, he took a Vikings team to the playoffs after their season seemed over at the very beginning. Maybe he doesn't suck, at least anymore.

With Bryce, there's a good chance of either buyer's or seller's remorse. A poor pick from the beginning, matched up with bad coaching and a poorly built team behind him. He's a nice kid, good head on his shoulders and full of heart, but he might not have the force of will and stature to make it as a starting QB.

Still, he gets however many games coming up that he can earn for this season. Maybe one and done, at least that's what the odd makers will say.
