This isn’t what you said. You said cutting Dalton is move number 1

id prefer we shot Bryce like a horse

If you think I'm a Bryce stan you haven't read anything I've posted since I got back on this board. I actually think I'm repetitive and obnoxious about it.

Everyone here knows my position on Bryce Young. The only thing that would make me largely detach from the team would be signing Geno. He's basically another Andy Dalton (terrible) and he's a top to bottom ungrateful douchecanoe.

He is a terrible teammate.

Geno doesn’t really excite me. At all.
I am thinking young vet. Not someone who is hanging on, which he will be soon if he isn’t already.
I guess if Canales is tight with him that might be something g we see, but not my choice.

this draft is loaded for a developmental QB who can, in time, possibly challenge for a starting spot by 2027.   I think there are about 5 who will not be drafted on day 1 who could become NFL starters in time--like Ewers (Fish like him--7th rounder).

Did not say that, but roll with it. I probably did not elaborate on my point.  A seventh rounder getting a shot to unseat a first round draft pick starter.  And he did OK--to such a degree, it is doubtful Tua comes back.  He is a seventh rounder that everyone was down on--nearly did not get drafted.  if you look at his starts at the end of the season, they were better than Bryce's first six games or so.

I think in terms of risk vs reward.  Of course a seventh rounder is a long shot, but when a seventh rounder is in the same conversation with a first rounder, you increase the reward by lowering the risk.  It is a numbers game.  Was I endorsing Ewers?  Not at all, but the talent that is likely to be available on day 3 was once in round 1 talk (QBs from Penn St, LSU, Miami, etc).

QB play is the biggest problem with this team. I'd trade Bryce, but assuming we don't do that, the next best thing we can do is bring in some actual competition for the job.

Not sure what's surprising about that. Like you think off ball LB is more important?

Bryce will definitely be here next year and possibly the year after unless he does some Deshaun "Diddy" Watson type of stuff. I think #1 priority is getting some true competition for Bryce. And not some random 6th round draft pick or UDFA. Some sort of meaningful draft pick or FA candidate. That has to happen this offseason.

Geno is going to be 36 next year and threw 17 interceptions this year with raw passing numbers only marginally better than Bryce.

As a backup? I guess. But there's no real future here as a starter.

    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
