Needed someone, so I'm at least happy that the team made the move and didn't let Canales continue down the same path. Bevell has worked with short QBs and limited QBs, so, welcome home!

As for Brad Idzik...what is it that you do here?

Being the OC for a HC that calls the offense is like being Brett Favre's backup QB. You're literally getting paid for nothing. Sweet gig. Y'all hirin'?

The Panthers are hiring Darrell Bevell as associate head coach/offensive specialist, per sources.

A longtime respected NFL assistant, Bevell brings a wealth of experience to Dave Canales’ staff as Carolina aims to take the next step.

Great news for the team (can you fix the link, it goes to news about the Giants coaching staff hire).

Well, they now have a person they could credibly reassign play calling to, if it becomes an issue that rises to the level where that type of move is being called for.

He is the guy that called the Malcom Butler pass play at the goal line in the SB. Which will live in infamy.

Glad they did something.

But not sure I am glad they did this.

Could also have gotten a new OC... so...

Acknowledging there is a problem - good. The solution - !? 🤔

He's a good OC.  Hopefully he brings some competence to Canales playbook.

Game planning and being the eyes from the box during the game. 🤷‍♂️ it's all I got.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
