First off, we haven't been ignoring the defense. We have drafted several defensive players, but, perhaps more importantly, we have added good pieces in free agency. Secondly, the offense was still kinda bad (27th or so depending where you look at). You can't just say we can't pick an offensive guy while acknowledging that the offense wasn't good. Everything is on the table.

Like I said above, it seems kind of counterproductive to say that we shouldn't draft an offensive player high unless they're at certain positions. The offense was mediocre at best. Sure, we had an uncanny knack to win some close games at opportune times, but the offense wasn't really good. To me, it makes little sense to put limitations on who/what we should draft when we need an upgrade at so many positions. What you look at is trying to get the best value--bang for your buck so to speak--and that's the way it should be. D-Mo has used FA to set up the draft in order not to be pigeonholed into anything, and that's the way that it should be.

Offense is bad do to poor QB play, they not drafting a QB this year(Bama QB will be there for the taking) but is a top target next year in a better QB draft unless BY9 take some huge steps

Bryce had some bad games, but he had some good ones as well (and this is coming from a Bryce skeptic). I think it's a little simplistic to put all the offensive woes on Bryce, you also should be looking at O-line play, receiver play, RB and TE play, and also coaching. There's no way when I look at the offense in it's totality am I ready to say that a so-so to bad offense was all on Bryce, and, I also can't say that we don't need to upgrade any position on offense, save Tetairoa McMillan (who also wasn't perfect) and maybe the starting guards and T-mo.

I guess Iook at things on offense and say “if you really want to upgrade the offense QB is the spot that needs it”.
As far as certain positions, that is why QB was listed in my ‘approved’ offensive positions, the ones I could see some justification for passing over a down lineman for the defense, or two or three other needs.

Upgrading with a subpar QB who requires limitations put on the offense, is just a very inefficient way to do it. I wonder what McMillan’s stats are with a top 12-15 QB, or would have been, as an example.

This is my bias, but I don’t feel like you are going to get the most out of a Sadiq if you take him at 19. If you are going offense, Bryce doesn’t affect non skill positions the same way so take those guys first. Especially after the gorging on receivers..  2022 2nd, 2023 2nd, 2024 late 1st, 2025 top ten 1st. 4 years straight.

2023 DJ Johnson 3rd

2024 Wallace 3rd

2025 Scourton 2nd, Princely 3rd.

Three years of drafts. Give the defense a couple of 1sts. Guys that will be the next Phillips and Lloyd when their contracts come up again.

Carolina Panthers

Oregon · TE · Junior

Sadiq proved his plus athleticism at the combine (4.39-second 40-yard dash, 43 1/2-inch vertical leap, 11-foot-1 broad jump), so he could be selected earlier than this. Carolina would love to see him available here to join reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan.

i would love this pic. absolutely. this is the only position of need we haven't signed a big name in

We can't ignore defense that many years in a row. The only case for offense is OT, otherwise, go defense. Still need front 7 help and a safety

I agree but I could see it happening with how much money they have poured on the defensive side.

Didn't Bryce just help TMac earn OROY?

Well yes of course TMac was awarded that award. Give Bryce however much of the credit for that that suits you.

I said that I believe he would have been even more productive with a better QB throwing him the ball. And writing this brings to mind, it took him what seemed like forever to get his first TD.

Scourton,  Umanielen, Moehrig, Jackson, Phillips, and Loyd have been added to the roster in the last 18 months.  That's definitely not neglecting the defense.

Not to mention Wharton (15 mil per year) and Bobby Brown III (7 mil per year). We have invested heavily on the defensive side the last two offseasons, for sure.

Really shows how bad off the defense was, especially since there are still glaring holes/question marks in spots (FS, NT, ILB).

Draft some guys and you won’t be paying 15m per year. And not 7 either for a lot of them.

Yes it does. The way the defense was allowed to go to seed was practically criminal. It was not going to be rebuilt, or built, into a strength with 3 thirds and a single second in three years of drafting.
If we pass on defense (in the 1st) that will be the 5th straight year. That is not any kind of balanced approach.
