As the series plays out, I am convinced that Game 1 was solely due to the long layoff and the Canes’ strong desire to show the layoff didn’t “effect” them. This led to overplaying situations for a period.

Since that time, the Canes have dominated the games. The only distinguishing factor of Game 1 was the 11 days off before it.

Staal is interviewed and gave away that this might be the end of his career. Looks like we will need to replace him next year.
