Given the choice next season, do you...

Defensive line.

Getting pressure with the D-Line helps out the entire defense, freeing up the LBs, allowing the CBs to cover their guys, and allowing the Safeties to roam the field.

Shoring up the right side of the offensive line would help the offense a little more, but judging by the production last season, there wouldn't be a notable difference, because the production was already at such a high rate.

D-line. Cam's mobility and strength can mask some of the O-line deficiencies. But without a big time D-line the rest of the defense struggles.

The front 4 on defense could be the one fix that turns around this defense in a hurry. We have other holes on D but those guys make everything else so much easier or harder depending on how they are playing.

D-line

We all know how well we did when our D-line was at full capacity under Fox and the playoffs this year show how necessary it is to win in those trenches on the d side beyond takeaways and all the flashiness.

Either way, line first in my book FA wise. If the quality is available, we should try to make a move for someone. Of course I trust Rivera & Hurney on the direction they take and I hope we find some real studs this offseason.

cheers

dline.

oline's problems are overblown. healthy otah and schwartz competing with bell and hangman and maybe bring in a couple midland guys via FA to add to competition should be enough.

bell will be better next year. rookie OTs usualy play on skates but they tend to get better in years following.

meanwhile, the Dline has been largely neglected in recent years and it shows.

we need to beef up the middle. dream scenario for me is to draft brockers and bring in garay. a brockers/garay/fua/mcclain interior should be good for years. i wouldn't be opposed at all in using a 2nd rounder to bring in someone to compete with hardy and the boys for that spot across from CJ. it couldn't hurt.

we need a dominant Dline and that is something we can take care of this year. having that will make the rest of the defense better so you can get by with a weaker secondary.

focus next year on getting a new CB and FS with the first couple picks (though i wouldn't mind bringing in come competition for martin this year).

    • Dan's been part of 5 drafts, 3 as an assistant to the "last guy" and 2 leading the way. The first 3 with Fitts were pretty ugly overall. Last year's draft, his 1st, isn't looking hot. This year looking like a winner.  He's been part of some bad FA decisions, some good ones, and right now we have the most expensive OL in the league with our franchise LT on the last year of his rookie deal. That's going to get even more expensive.  I'm not ready to crown him as a GM god quite yet because one good year isn't making up for all the bad that's been done the previous 4.
    • It is what it will be. I’m over bitching about Young myself. It changes nothing about the situation to constantly complain about him so I personally am not going to do it. I’m looking for another target because this one is played out and it changes nothing.
    • I’m getting his jersey. I never buy jerseys. But today I bought 2 at the team store. I got a Delhomme and Peppers legacy jerseys. They didn’t have my size in. DB jersey. Its at the top of my jersey hit list.
