Anyone worried about the DTs?

Edwards is 33 and that is not too old.

Who else is around his age and still playing at a high level at DT. Richard Seymour will be 33 in October and went to the probowl in 2010 and 2011.

Casey Hampton is 34 and started 12 games for Pittsburgh last year and has been solid for the last several years.

Kelly Gregg is 34 and started 14 games and had 39 tackles for KC in 2011 along with 1 sack at NT.

Kevin Williams for the Vikings will be 32 next week and also is playing at a high level.

And the list goes on. Just like the old running backs are washed up at 30 BS. I just don't subscribe to that tired old logic.

Need more?????

There are exceptions to everything and anything. RBs generally start a rapid decline around 30. 30 is old for a NFL RB. Nothing BS about that.

Hampton didn't play in 25% of their games....and then in the playoffs tore his ACL. Older players have a harder time staying on the field.

Exceptions to everything. Pat Williams was an exception....him being one doesnt mean 33-35 DTs aren't old

Seems that when it happens once it is an exception. When it happens several times it is no longer an exception. Besides as long as Edwards follows this trend of being an exception then I will be fine with it. In fact I hope he is exceptional...............................

Inside the mind of a Huddler:

I wish Rivera looked at this board and realized the DTs are garbage...anyone got his number?! He said they are good at DT several times and how the Line really gelled the last few weeks of the season....but he has to be wrong.

Megaphones at practice reading this thread will create the urgency so we can trade for Suh!.... Foaming spit running down the side of face ensues..

Everybody hating on McFua need realize these guys were rookie third rounders. Those guys shouldve received limited reps and were clearly not ready and that is normal. Besides I saw Connor hit the runner in the hole without making the stop or get schooled in space by a 350 lb fatass like every series, LB was equally bad last year.

I always think its interesting how fans find one example of something that worked and all of a sudden its a given rule.

Well, lets just bring in ALL THE 35 YEAR OLD DTS!!!! APPEARANTLY IT WORKS EVERY TIME.

See that is just silly.

I like it even better when people think that there are actual rules to begin with.

Random note, but I've always been agitated by the "Let's wait until he's not a Panther anymore to say anything bad" crowd. Some fans go too far with the bashing, true, but nothing wrong with constructive criticsim of our own players.

On topic, I will be watching our DTs the most on Saturday.

"Constructive criticism" on a free, fan forum? Gimmee a break. Not buying that. Sell it somers' else. Players get bashed by butt hurt whiners in here. The constructive criticism is usually nothing more than a venomous regurgitation of something Brian Billick or Terry Bradshaw said. But whatever. That's fine. Do whatever you feel you need to do. But a rookie gets a pass IMO. Especially one not drafted in the first round.

Yes, that includes Weinke and Clausen IMO. To each his own though.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
