OMG The Feels I Got From Watching This

This is off topic but on topic as it speaks to Cams character affecting the way people perceive his play. After watching the top 100, I don't think it is the NFL "hating" on Cam as much as it is that they have higher expectations. Cam set the bar for all rookie and 1st year full time starter players and I believe they expect his attitude to reflect that. The expectations of his play are for him to be extraordinary, and the only way he exceeds expectations, IMO is to have an MVP caliber season, or not throw the pick in Chicago, and not fumble the ball in ATL. While we had the opportunity to win those games with defense, he puts the losses on himself this affecting the perception of his play.

There are just extraordinary expectations about his play that his attitude has brought about and the only way he will meet those expectations if is his play matches his post game demeanor in which he shows his intense passion for the game of football. This is in no way a bad thing or a shot at Cam but in a round about way, the ultimate show of respect.

It was also funny when Rivera said that the child's make a wish was to be head coach of the Panthers and the whole team laughed. Haha

They should give the kid an interview and it should consist of one multiple choice question:

Scenario:  We're up by 1 point, 1 minute left in the game.  We have the ball at midfield and it's 4th and 1.  What do you do?

a) Punt the ball. A punt is a good play.

b) Fake punt run up the middle with Pilares.

c) Let your 6'5, 250lbs stud of a QB punch it through for the first down sealing the victory.

d) Chew gum and clap your hands.

Correct answer wins you a job as HC of the Panthers.

So with all the Aaron Hernandezes and Riley Coopers and drug related arrests and domestic violence in this league, how the hell is Cam painted as the bad guy? Who was the first to stand up when Coach Jack started rolling in? Who, in his monologue, stated that he was inspired by Coach Jack, and not the other way around? Who got Coach Jack's signature and made the kid feel like the luckiest child in the world at that precise moment? Yet Cam gets blasted at every turn. You think the NFL would promote the heroics of Cam in dark times like these, not lambast him and destroy his image. Go figure.

Yea its absolutely awful that ESPN and others gloss over stuff like this ONLY to focus on the Aaron Hernandez type situations. This type of stuff happens all over the league, yet with the way the media covers things, you would think that 98% of the NFL is comprised of axe murderers.

Another good story that reminds me of was a few years back at Clausen's alma mater.

Coach Weis let a terminally ill child call the first play of the season. Coach assumed he would just say he wanted a pass or run. However, the child wanted a specific type play run.....a pass to the right. That child died the day before the game. Coach Weis called the parents to let them know they would still be doing their son's play...first play.

Fast forward to game day...Notre Dame fumbles the opening kickoff and recovers on their own 1. First down backed all the way up on their one. Every team on college or pro would have wanted to run that first down to get some breathing room. Weis still called the boys play....13 yard gain.

I always liked Charlie Weis after that.
