Bears cut T J'Marcus Webb

I have a difficult time believing anyone cut by Chicago on the OL is a "probably" for being better than what we have on our OL.  They are simply awful up front.  Like I'd call them a sieve but I have a sieve in my kitchen that would probably be insulted if I did.  I'm sure there are people in our FO who look at every single OL cut in the league but I doubt it makes it any further than "yep they cut him.  Yep he's awful.  fug that".

The OL cuts are getting to be like WR cuts...and the answer remains the same; not every player cut by every team is worth bringing in for a workout.  Especially the ones cut by teams who are arguably worse than us in whatever area we're talking about that day.

Problem is, people said the same thing about Jeremy Bridgez and Arizona's OL a couple years back and he ended up coming in and being about as much as you could hope for in a stop-gap player.

He's worth looking into, but no guarantee he'll be an upgrade.

    • Apparently the extension he signed before the season was also a little weird, as it had a very low signing bonus. So the Jets have a very small dead cap hit despite trading a big contract that was signed just 2 months ago. I guess it was only a $13 million signing bonus, and trading him mid-season means it's something around only a $10 million dead cap hit left to take. This is a huge win for the Jets for a player I've long felt was overrated because of a great nickname and an amazing rookie season that he's then failed to fully live up to since them.  Combine that with everyone knowing the Colts seem more mirage then legit long term contender, that 2027 1st in particular could end up being a really good asset for the Jets.
    • Steichen has the offense operating at a super high efficiency with JT/Pittman/Warren/Downs.  The OL is strong. The D - the front 7 has been sneaky good.  They don't instill much fear but do enough.  Buckner is stil playing at a high level.  It's a good system on both sides of the ball.  Blue chip players now at every position group.   Overall, the NFL is wide open right now. Seahawks, Colts, Patriots, Rams, & Bills are at the top of the mid-season hill - which is just wild Lions, Bucs, Broncos, Chargers* are in contention/okay spots (LAC is losing guys left and right though) Chiefs, Philly still linger, you can never discount. Steelers, 49ers are around as always.
