What does Riverboat Ron look for in an assistant coach?

After this year, both of our coordinators will likely be in discussions for HCs at both the college and pro levels.  Shula's actually been a HC at Alabama, and can now point to some success to justify another shot.  He's also on a one year deal.

 

If you recall, everyone defended the Shula hiring as the right one, for continuity and conservatism's sake.  But say he's gone for whatever reason.  Do you think Rivera finds another guy just like him--a keep it simple type of guy?  Or does he roll the dice and look for the next Sean Payton? 

 

Can you imagine this team with a creative OC?

I think he stays with a conservative play caller- it's just his nature as a former defensive players and coach.

 

As for as coaches he's repeatedly said he wants teachers.

I hope Shula finds a job elsewhere. Rivera has grown as a gameday head coach, but hasn't shown much as far as mining talent. This way he would at least be forced to.

I hope Shula is not brought back. Being ~25th in total offense is unacceptable. I don't care where you are in rushing.

I'd like to see Hue Jackson interviewed again. I think he could do wonders. A Coryell style offense, and still knows that the run game is important.

Shula has been good, but I want a powerful offense that features Cam to match our #1 Defense.

I want 30+ppg offense. No reason we couldnt considering who we have at QB.

I can't believe I'm saying it...but I honestly wouldn't hate this.  His offenses are decently potent, the only issue I'd have is him having to change to a degree and commit to a run game which he drifts away from in Dallas.  If he can help make Miles Austin into a #1 receiver, I like to think about what we could do with some young new talent.

2 things that would help our offense:

A stronger o-line

And.....

4 screen plays a game.

a beefed up Oline can change out offense more than a new OC will.

I think our problem is Jimmy's and Joe's more than X's and O's. An upgrade at WR and OL would do wonders.
