Very frustrating that he is injured again and we know that he heals.......real......slow. I think he is gone now and for the playoffs. Just a damn shame that he is never healthy, think he played two games this year or less and I forget how many he played last year. Was hoping that he could go,but as usual....not gonna happen.

Let's just say that RR stated that he is definitely out for Atanta at his press conference. If you read the tea leaves and consider Stewarts past health history and rehab timelines,I wouldn't add him to our depth chart for the playoffs.

He's a beast on the field, but i don't think he's ever been fully healthy nor that he will ever be. I wish we could get out from under that contract. His contract is worse than DeAngelo's. At least DeAngelo can play and he's made some huge plays for us in recent weeks.

Personally, I hope we've seen the last big money RB contract in Carolina. Very few continue to deliver afterwards. Adrian Peterson is an anomaly and a waste of talent in Minnesota. That shows you right there that you don't need a big money RB. Peterson is one of the best ever and the Vikes have mostly sucked with him.

I don't see the justification of keeping Stewart next season

The contract is awful. The cap hit would be huge. Our best bet would be convincing him to retire and working out an injury settlement. No way his agent goes for that though considering the contract. They'd be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Agreed, the best we can hope for is that he feels guilty about taking up a huge portion of the cap and is holding the team back. Maybe he takes a pay cut and wants to be here long term.

However the could be a sense of entitlement to the money, his body has taken a beating over his career dating back to his Oregon days. He may feel he is owed this money and who am I to say he's not. These guys all work for there one big pay day and he got his, to give some back may not be an option to him.

We can't be mad at Stewart because Hurney is a fugging moron. Or can we?

At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
