Panther Fans

As the resident grouch when it comes to the weakness of Panther fans at Bank of 'Merica stadium, I want to give props to the growth I saw this year. Yes there are still too many opposing jerseys (and yesterday I saw people decked out in Steeler, Cowboy, and Eagle gear. Seriously why the fug even come to our game you fuging losers) in our house but damn if we aren't getting better. Next year will be a true test to see if we can keep our home field mojo going. Yesterday was loud even though the 9er fans were in full force. Next year we have the Steelers, Hawks and Bears coming to town. These teams will test our resolve as a fanbase and I can only hope that people don't sell out the home team. I heard the biggest compliment when I was at a party Saturday night when a Jets fan that attended our game this year said "Panther fans are assholes, they were all over us." My response was "Getcha some." Keep up the good work and spend the summer months getting people ready for 2014.

whole lot of growth, even in the receiving corps. we had 4 receivers with 5+ TDs and over 550 yards. not too bad at all.

could you imagine what it would have been like if we had a higher octane offense with better playcalling?

we still need that new explosive WR to be brought in that demands double teams and a lot of help on the OL, but it was good to see the ball spread around so much. cam got a lot more efficient, but we lacked those big plays we used to be so good at. we have to find that balance.

on defense and special team...i think that's the best that i've seen maybe ever from those two. i think that we have enough from those two that we could stand to focus mainly on building up the OL and WR corps and maybe adding another TE threat.

we have a lot of one year contract guys who will probably be forced to take another one year deal or very small multi-year deals because of a flooded FA market and potentially deep draft so we could go into next year with pretty much the same defense and special teams we finished with and i don't think that would be a bad thing at all. have them all come back angry and disrespected.

sorry...my brain wondered.

was thinking about reasons for the fans to still be excited next year. lot of growth happened in the fanbase and in the stands and i'm worried about the dissappointment and how resilient the fanbase will be.

hopefully they understand the direction we are going and are just as pissed and ready to come back next year as the team is.

no one sat down yesterday. no one.

winning breeds these sorts of things.

No they didn't! Me and Philly had a time trying to get a few fans to actually shut up on offense. At one point the lady behind us actually argued that the players wanted us to be loud when they are in the red zone.... RIGHT AFTER they were signaling for us to get quiet from the huddle. We still have some teaching to do, but on D the place was rocking!

    • Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together.  His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue.   He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well).  Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage.  Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck.  He's not unrefined by any means.   If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette.  And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play.  But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent.  What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc.  How to play against these tackles as a game progresses.   Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length.  When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited.  Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
