9. Luke Kuechly, LB, Carolina

A disaster who has done nothing but brought his franchise shame since being draf— oh, wait, I got confused. What is a superstar doing in the middle of this mess? Luke Kuechly fell on draft day because teams aren’t interested in using high draft picks on middle linebackers, so give deposed Panthers general manager Marty Hurney (and head coach Ron Rivera) a ton of credit. Kuechly has turned into a franchise cornerstone, winning defensive player of the year in his second season while quickly becoming football’s best middle linebacker. It’s going to be a joy to watch him play for years to come. Let’s just hope he’s not the next victim of this miserable class.

Everyone was getting chubbies over Andrew Luck and RGIII and Luke has been far away the best player of the draft class. Hurney magic?

 

The man was money in the first round.  Unfortunately, he appears to have sucked at every other aspect of his job.

He means trade a 3rd to the Vikings for OT Matt Kalil. Would be an absolute steal for us and would be huge for our line. No chance the Vikings bite on it though, probably wouldn't even for a 2nd. He's been struggling in Minnesota against not very great pass rushes (except St Louis week 1) and supposedly Turner and Zimmer aren't very high on him as their franchise guy. I think it'd be fuging awesome to have both Matt and Ryan as cornerstones on our line for the future. Matt is risky because he seems to have gotten worse (or stayed the same) every year instead of getting better, but I bet being with his brother would help him and despite the struggles he's been way better than what we already have.

I think this pick had more to do with R.R then Hurney...one ex LB picking a young LB with exceptional talent.

I love how we slide credit around to fit what we want to believe.

Not calling just u out because it seems like everyone does this.

You see it with Hornets fans now too who give Cho all the credit for recent success so they can say Jordan still sucks and stuff.

Just an interesting observation

      Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.

      Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players

      This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
