Just a small observation I believe some of you may have seen as well?

Cam's arms strength. I believe is his greatest strength yet at the same time his bigges weakness.

Cam has no touch. He doesn't put air under his throws. That's the missing piece to him. There were so many throws that I saw in this game that if he would have added a bit of touch, this game would have been 31-28. Other times he rifles his throws in that receivers can't get a good shot.

There were two KB end zone incomplete catches that should have been TD's. One where it should have been an over the shoulder fade, he threw right at the defender, like he was trying to gun that throw in there. The other one was a middle of the end zone throw where if he would have thrown it ahead of Benjamin, doesn't matter how fast really, instead of high and over his head without proper time to adjust, could have been a TD.

What's the root cause of these errant throws? He hasn't been the best passer, his stance was mediocre, his footwork as well. Which we all knew he was in his Auburn days. Now, we know that it was because of his foot injury that was repaired. Well, was it because of that?

His foot has been repaired, he is still throwing a 6'5 35" long armed, 240 pound mammoth of man with hands the size of bear paws. I am not sure what to make of this. It could be his rhythm. He was off all night, we know he has off nights. But tonight was one of his worse.

I can't say the next game will be a win. We all know how this team is after a bye week, since essentially they don't play until November 10th. Which is almost a bye week. Things are looking bleak. I can't say I am optimistic at this moment in time. This game was too important to lose, scratch that, the past three weeks it has been. I'm having flashbacks of 2011. Except we are getting blown out. I won't go into draft talk just yet, but I am becoming numb after this mediocre performance.

He could really stop with the 200 MPH fastballs on 10 yard passes...probably why our screens suck too.

Sure it's cool to have that kind of arm but.....also leads to passes deflecting hard off WR hands/chest and pop up INTs....sure the WR should catch it but even the announcers in the last few games noted that there is a time and place for the fast ball and that place isn't on literally every damn pass.

I love Cam but it is getting to be a problem. In no way am I pinning this game on him, but he really struggles with being able to throw different types of balls, and it showed tonight. I dunno if it's just Cam or the coaches not working on it more but it is certainly an issue.

I also notice he gives it away when he's about to run an option from the gun by shifting his body towards the direction of the play side pre-snap, something that also needs to be addressed by the coaches.

Yea, OP observation isn't wrong but I'm hard pressed to fault him when he's NEVER had a good O-line.  Even at our best, our O-line was merely adequate.  This year I'm surprised every other throw isn't like his interception vs Seattle.  He's not good at footwork when ducking for his life.  It is most certainly a short coming.  Is his QB coach working with him on that?  Is he just blowing it off and not taking it seriously?  Who knows.  I'm inclined to doubt it's the second one.  Is his ex-QB coach who is now inexplicably his OC chiming in?  Or even calling plays to mask this deficiency?  I think we all know the answer to that one.

I'll start judging Cam when the players around him stop sucking so bad. A couple players catch the ball that hit them in the hands and we aren't even talking about this.

This is true to the point of fast balls. He throws them in practice as well but he was just off tonight and that's a problem because he needs to be perfect for this offence to move.

MKG was a gifted athlete that couldn't shoot. So Jordan hired Mark Price to teach him.

Cam Newton is a gifted athlete that needs to learn the pro passing game. So Marty/Rivera hired Mike Shula to teach him.

.....Profit?

To be fair, Shula made a great quarterback coach.

Offensive coordinator, though?

    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
    • The Saints being that high is the one that killed me. Chris Olave might not know his name at this point, Shaheed is coming off injury as well, so 31 year old Brandin Cooks might be your best WR...coming off a 260 yard season over 10 games. Kamara is Kamara, but didn't have 1,000 yards last year and is about to turn 30.  Toss in the fact that Taysom Hill may be the best QB on the team and I truly don't understand Barnwell's thoughts beside seeing the names "Olave" and "Kamara" and going yep, that sounds better than "Chuba" and "Thielen".
    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
