Atlanta is a favorable matchup

Player for player, we match up very well against them.

They have zero pass rush, and we have a mediocre line, I would not expect much pressure from Osi or Kroy.

They have an awful o-line, and their top tackle will not be assigned to Charles Johnson, who is playing like a top five DE the last five weeks.

Their best weapon is Julio Jones, he will be shadowed all game by Josh Norman, who has worked wonders against top receivers.

Their running game is not special, and Kuechly + Star should pretty much eliminate it all together, think, 2.1 ypc.

The Falcons are 1-9 against mobile qbs the last two seasons, they do not have anyone who can spy on a mobile qb, and they cannot create enough separation on the edges to contain them, which means Cam should go nuts.

They are straight awful against teams who are run first and have a physical defense, I can't think of the last physical team they have beat.

All in all, it would be tough to lose this game, if White goes nuts on the other side it could be tough sledding, but either way, I think we win in style.

Panthers - 24

Falcons - 13

If we can capitalize in the red zone we will win.  If we do our usual :

1st down:  Run for no gain or lob to KB in which he drops or the ball is overthrown

2nd down: KB lob if it wasn't on first down or Stretch run to the outside

3rd down:  Olsen drag on PA, Or spread no back looking for KB corner route or  Avant square in.

4th down: Gano.

We won't win kicking FG.  Atlanta has 2 many weapons to shut out.  However our ball control and running game should keep the ball out of their hands.

This game is going to come down to the offense. They need to be very careful with Hester on special teams. I'm not convinced that they can contain Atlanta's offense all 4 quarters. Cam is going to have to get touchdowns. Field goals won't cut it this time around. Look what happened the last game we played them. 24-20 Panthers. As usual it's going to come down to stopping them from scoring a touchdown on the last drive.

While most points you made are mostly true, both of their lines have played better of late, like ours have.

I think the Panthers are a better team, and should win by about 10, but our special teams scare me, as well as Byron.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
