Cardinals Release Ted Ginn

Jeremy Igo

Do you make an offer now or wait till after the draft? I would hate for us to sign Ginn and then not look at recievers in the draft.

Who says Cam doesn't make players around him better?

To me, you have a proven punt returner in Ginn. No rookie is a proven nfl punt returner. The balls come in at a higher angle and there is more pressure.

No brainer, sign the sure thing. Ginn hopefully will be a Panther again.

No one could see Smitty playing 1 year here after his Ravens contract is up, we've won back to back Super Bowls, and before he retires?

The difference between this time and last is that he'd be coming strictly as a returner. You don't want to inhibit Brown or any possible high draft pick or notable free agent signee from getting reps, so his contract would have to reflect that he was exclusively a return specialist. I'm not sure he'd go for that.

I say make an offer right now.  We know exactly how Ginn fits into our organization both on the field and in the locker room.  Bring him in as a PR and give him a chance to compete at WR.  I'd still look to draft another WR.  The only change it would make for me is that I probably wouldn't be looking to double dip at WR now.

I seriously doubt he'll be in the NFL after the two more years of the Baltimore contract are up. I'm not even sure he will play the third year TBH. I said this before in a topic I made, but next year Steve will be 36. Only 11 WRs of that age have finished with more than 700 yards and only 15 have had more than 50 receptions. In 2016, Steve will be 37, and only seven WRs of that age have finished with more than 500 yards and only six have finished with more than 40 receptions. I love Steve as much as anyone but do you seriously think he'll have anything left in the tank at 38 years old?

PhillyB is licking ass with that weak sauce he's serving.

lol i'm not licking ass, i just don't think posting news items is swagger. if you wrote up a lengthy post analyzing dwill's stats over the course of his career and that got deleted and replaced by something similar then yeah, that'd be messed up.

are people really upset about this?

    • Just stop, man. All the college stats don't matter. Plenty of guys who put up big numbers in college flop in the NFL and you and I both know that there are 1st round and top 10 busts every year. While we definitely hope T-Mac isn't one and we hope he proves to be a great NFL WR, you can't assume poo about a rookie who hasn't played a down of NFL football yet.
    • therein lies the problem.  Carry on
    • Again, it's not about performance, it's purely a statement about his ability as a football player. Which right now, is better than Chark ever was, I don't understand how that is a controversial statement. This isn't someone who had a 1,500 yard season with a dozen touchdowns while being a threat the other team was afraid of on every snap.  It's literally a guy who had a couple good games and then was just peppered with targets in the others because the team had no other viable WRs and he still barely cracked 1,000 yards, and then was barely even a JAG for the rest of his career outside that one season. Just look at it this way, take names aside, you're saying a guy who's peak was 1,008 yards and 2nd best season was 706 yards, was a better football player at that time than a WR who was just taken in the Top 10 and had multiple teams trying to trade up to get them. That's beyond asinine thinking.  I'm genuinely not even sure Chark would make the argument himself if he was being completely honest and objective about it.
