Even though draft pundits act like they know everything, they don't. Someone always drops and it's up to the teams to do enough research so they aren't caught off guard by a gift falling to them...especially for teams that go by the BPA mantra...

They looked a lot at Star when he obviously wasn't gonna fall to 13

Bingo.  Never know who may be there.  Also, picking up two comp picks does give us a little flexibility.  One of these guys we're looking at who "won't make it to 25" is still on the board starting at about #20 or so, then we can think about jumping up a couple spots.  Just too costly to move up into the top half of the 1st round when you're sitting at #25, but moving up a couple of spots if a guy you love slips?  Yeah, that's possible.

Gettleman values his picks too much ...if anything with the depth in this draft ...if our guy is not there he'd move us down to the second pick in the 2nd round and get an extra 3rd and maybe a 5th. Which he could combine along with our original 5th to move up into the 4th netting us another pick there ... leaving us with (2) Second Rounders, (2) Third, (2) Fourth, (2) Fifth (comp), (1) Sixth, (1) Seventh. Draft Day Costner Style. j/k

No..In all seriousness, just giving players their due. atleast I think.... that being said, you never know who will slide... if you look at our drafts under DG ...Star, Kawann, Kelvin, Kony .. with the not including Kelvin (kinda)... all are picks you wouldn't generally think would still be on the board. Although, he does have his 1 mid round reach per draft ..draft  i.e.. Kug, Boston.  I still stand behind his process. Hell, Kug could be healthy for all we know next season..

I saw somewhere that gettleman made a comment how the extra comp picks give them flexibilty to move up in the draft. While they can't trade the comp picks they could easily move other picks knowing they have so many other picks to rely on. He showed last year he's not afraid to do that for bene. Plus they have done such a good job finding value with udfa players, how many rookies can realistically make the roster.

Trade our 1st, 3rd and 5th for like pick 15? Sure. We still have 7 picks and likely a few udfa guys that will make the roster

    • 31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching.  Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close.  *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB.   Drive 1? ZERO carries.  Coaching.  Drive 2 - Rico was playing great.   Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries.  Coaching  Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick  with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going)  Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired.  I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching.  The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D.  It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
    • In the locker room after the Dallas game, multiple  players said FEED him when Canales mentioned Rico stats. That already made me think even the locker room wouldn't care if Rico got the touches rn. This is on Canales indeed and I agree n the Qb take.  We aren't winning  bc of Bryce  but he has been managing it. Had the Jets had Qb aptitude,  we could've probably  lost that game too. All they would've needed is 14 points. Regardless, we got a team  that's being built up and that position needs an overhaul.
    • I think he was trying to mimic the Lions with Montgomery and Gibbs. They are just more of the exception to the rule and Brooks was too much of a gamble to be a Gibbs type player. The Lions also didn’t sign Montgomery and draft Gibbs until their offense was nearly set. It was more of a luxury take the offense to the next level type of deal.
