Five teams that won't return to the playoffs

I don't buy excuses for not losing, just like I don't buy excuses for not winning.

Arizona had plenty of other weapons to rally around and got beat by the better team. The Panthers belonged in the playoff's both in 2013 and last year, that makes them a "playoff caliber" team. Not sure why anyone can allow the media or other fans to postulate differently.

Also... look what happened when we played real playoff teams... we were humiliated by 3 scores +. We got lucky we had a shitty division this year. Quit making yourself think we are playoff caliber

Except, we won the division the past two years and didn't lose arguably our best player from last year (Saints/Graham), get a new coaching staff (Falcons) or will not be starting a rookie QB (Bucs).

Yea beating the Saints 41-10 in New Orleans and beating Falcons 34-3 in Atlanta to finish off the season means the Panthers will definitely finish third in the division.

I think the media has picked the Saints and Falcons to finish ahead of us every year for about a decade straight. It's certainly nothing new. It's as if the media thinks every other NFCS team has the ability to improve while the Panthers are bound to be worse than they were the previous season. It's weird.

You are under the false belief that these guys actually search and do homework. Drew Bree's is (was?) a better QB than Newton and he has two running backs. = Panthers irrelevant.

Can't wait till we sweep the division.

I don't even care they don't think we aren't making the playoffs. The reasoning is poo. The saints aren't ready to let go of their Super Bowl dreams? What is that poo? That's not even a reason. Especially given their offseason.

This may have already been said--not reading entire thread to find out--but this Dilbert was writing a companion article to another crackhead they allow to draw a check who wrote an article about teams who WOULD make the playoffs in 2015.  That idiot had both Atlanta and New Orleans going.

It is amazing to see how many professionals know nothing about the panthers.  If it were my full time job, I could tell who the ball boys are for every team in the league.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
