Awesome Obscure Sports

In light the roundly disappointing boxing match from the past weekend, I would like to use this thread to show some love to sports that, while obscure, are much more deserving of our time and attention (and up to $99) than watching two over-the-hill gay-bashing politicians and wife-beating illiterates get paid tens of millions of dollars to paw at each other and hug.

So rather than continue to support the old guard, I think we should take the time to raise awareness to lesser known, but much more entertaining sports. After all, the only thing that separates these activities from a marquis boxing match is a bunch of hype.

I humbly nominate...whatever the hell this is:

Did nobody here watch "Full Metal Jousting" for the very short period it was on TV (February - April 2012)? It was pretty crazy. They came up with teams of inexperienced contestants and each team had a coach who taught them and each show culminated in the tournament of one guy from each team squaring off.

That was a great show.  I was so disappointed they didn't have a 2nd season.

    • Blowout incoming and the wheels fall off. Parsons will have multiple sacks, prob a FF. Media immediately starts saying the Bryce era is over
    • It's worth noting that we started playing something that looked like football after going down 17-0 against the Dolphins.  Up to that point we had rushed the ball 3 times and Bryce had two turnovers.   Then we ran it 5 straight times with Rico and he started cracking off some big gains and led to our first touchdown.  Another 37 yards of rushing later, Bryce goes 1 yard complete, incomplete, incomplete to get that field goal before halftime.  Then we committed big time to the run in the second half and played some really nice complimentary football.  The Panthers had stumbled on a formula, and it started with Rico being crazy productive.  Something they only learned because Chubba was injured and Bryce started that game so poorly they were forced to lean on Rico. Fast foward to Dallas, they essentially lean into the same game plan against the Cowboys and I think everyone was surprised by how quickly it started to look complimentary.  In my opinion the productive offense really helped the defense as well.  We played quite solid against a top offense. Finally we make our way to the Jets and Bills, Chubba's return.  You can't say the low scoring affair and return to ineffective football against the Jets was all on Chubba, they were indeed a better defense and so was Buffalo.  But the production difference between the two backs in both games was both visually and statistically obvious.  The bigger picture is the offense took a major step back as well.  They are other moving parts and it's isn't all one thing, BY9>Dalton by a decent margin at this point.   But yeah, Rico's vision and athleticism is just better than Chubba and it jumps at you.
