Panthers Roster Projection Update

I can't remember a year when the Panthers kept 10 O-linemen. I remember, under Fox 1 year, they kept 10 D-lineman but never 10 O-lineman.  9 seems to be the max for most teams and some teams only keep 8 with all the extra room teams have now on the practice squad.  So I am not saying it won't happen but the likelihood of it happening seems low.

Unless Mayo shows something on Special Teams I'm wondering if he could slip to the PS.  I still think it unlikely, but the percentage chance has crept up in my mind from like a 10% possibility to a 30% possibility.

Rivera's press conference yesterday talked about the serious competition at various positions and how those 4th or 5th deep on the depth chart would have to be obvious contributors in multiple special teams phases.  Who currently fits that model among the LBs who are battling for a spot?

(I confess my fairly large ignorance of Special Teams phases... and would love to learn more.)

Am I the only one that thinks Byrd should be given a roster spot over Cotchery?

Eh, it depends.  I've been as vocal against Cotch as anyone, his veteran presence is completely overblown IMO.  That said, he is owed money, he knows the offense decently, and on top of all of this, I legitimately think we can stash Byrd on the practice squad safely this season.  If I had any fear at all of Byrd not safely making it to the practice squad, I wouldn't even suggest it.  All of this is for naught though if Byrd shows out in the preseason and gives us no way to not include him on the roster.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
