9 Guys in the Box

What the Jags did Sunday is probably how every opponent will play us. Two guys on Olsen. 9 in the box.

I'd like to see more deep shots to Ginn or even Philly. Give the WRs a chance to make a play.

I think 100% we need to take some DEEP shots early.  Heck, I don't care if Cam intentionally throws it long and uncatchable.

we need to do something to get some breathing room

If I'm not mistaken I don't think there was a real deep shot against the Jags. I know the Ginn drop was a deep pass, but I'm talking like an Aaron Rodgers bomb.

Perfect summation of the Shula offensive philosophy. We're going to "do what we do" regardless of what the defense is doing. The read option is not a bad offensive tool, but this reliance on misdirection will not work. We're basically hoping that 2 defenders will bite on the fake horribly and not be able to recover. For the read option to be successful, our OL have to win their one-on-one's and then that allows Cam to read ONE defender to decide whether to give or keep the ball. In my opinion, for this style of offense to work, ESPECIALLY with defense loading 9 in the box, you have to beat the Defense with the pass game (slants, TE work, etc.) to make the defense a step slow and maybe widen out a bit.

Until we figure out a way to get the ball to our receivers consistently (and unless it's #88, I don't think teams will ever really respect our ability to do that), we're going to see 9 in the box and misdirection isn't going to block 2 NFL defenders very often.
