"Q&A with Scott Paul, Executive Director - Stadium Operations

What prompted a review of the current policy?

A banner supporting the visiting team was pulled down and damaged before Sunday's game. We want to make sure our policy is clear and serves the best interests of our organization.

Was the banner in question returned or replaced?

We've reached out to the owner of the banner and we're in the process of providing a replacement.

Was the banner approved by security before it entered the stadium?

Yes. The banner was in compliance, with the understanding that no banners or flags expressing support of visiting teams may be affixed to or displayed on any surface.

Why are visiting team signs permitted and will that continue?

We are reviewing our policy. We'd rather not see opposing signage in our stadium, but when this policy was developed it was consistent with the vast majority of NFL stadiums.

When do you expect the policy review to be completed?

We've just begun the process and are working to finish the review in a timely manner.

Do you worry that any policy changes could negatively impact the game day experience for Panthers fans?

We've had unbelievable fan support, which has been a big part of the team's success at home. The reality is that we continue to see very few banners on game day and don't feel that policy changes would in any way impact the atmosphere at our home games."

What's there to review? No opposing team banners. Period. The org better be careful, after this incident I think fans are going to be MUCH more aware of  what opposing fans are doing in our stadium. If the Org doesn't absolutely stand firm on no opposing team banners, our fans will will enforce that rule and that could lead to other issues. Opposing fans aren't coming to BoA and disrespecting this team and its fans any longer. That s**t is over.

Opposing teams should not be allowed to bring this poo into any home team's

it is only asking for trouble  picture it   People have had a lot to drink .  ..

emotions are running high   This idiot starts failing that around if GB takes the lead or worse yet wins

I'm tired of bending over for other people. People and the NFL already don't like us, so why are we always bending over for them? Fug that racist ignorant POS. He deserved what he had coming. This is just the start that you cannot come into our stadium anymore and take over.

They better not go soft here...seriously if they don't support Cam and have his back on this it would really make this team/org look bad IMO...stand strong and just outright ban other teams signs...this is Cams franchise now...his rules IMO fug that other BS.

Seriously I also hope Cam stood up to the big cat because I'm sure they had a talk...I hope Cam was like look Mr. Richardson I love you and respect you and what you've done here but we cannot allow bs like that and I will continue to tear down banners until you trade me, cut me, or ban those banners outright.

Imagine how crushed Cam would be if they came out and were like "yea other fans can now bring in signs with impunity, Cam shouldn't have done that".

Honestly I thought Rivera should have been more staunch in his defense of Cam...reminds me of how Smitty said Rivera was kind of a coward in regards to his release...

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
