Is Gettleman already the NFL's best GM?

Obviously no Super Bowls (yet) but what he's done in two and a half seasons as a GM has to be unprecedented. Discuss?

Since this is relevant and everyone loves stats, I think this is a relevant topic to discuss this.

David Gettleman:

1986 - 1993 with Buffalo Bills: 4 Super Bowl Appearances (zero victories)

1994-1997 with Denver Broncos: 1 Super Bowl (1 victory)

1998-2012 with New York Giants: 3 Super Bowls (2 victories)

2013 - Present (currently in year 3) with Carolina Panthers: 0 Super Bowls (yet)

Before joining Carolina, his teams he was a part of averaged a Super Bowl appearance every 3.6 Years. He averaged a Super Bowl Victory on average every 6 years with the Giants and Broncos.

So, the stats are proof that we're definitely, without a doubt going to appear in the Super Bowl by next year, and if we don't win, we'll have our first Super Bowl victory by 2019. Stats

I wouldn't know where to begin to actually compare GMs. 

 

I know this, I love him as the Panthers GM. He is the best the Panthers have had.  

 

Don't care about other teams GM's.

probably the top ten right there (not ranked). newsome and schneider havent done so hot lately but have done very well in the past. opposite for brown, who has been doing really well since the green/dalton draft. elway, gettleman, and keim are all newcomers doing very well in their short tenures. belichick and colbert have built the best afc teams of the past decade, tho colbert's squad keeps getting killed by injuries... ted thompson has a team where like 48 of the 53 players have only ever been packers and they go to the playoffs every damn year. so yeah, wouldn't say gettleman is the best but he's easily in the top ten.

The 3 years before he was hired was the worst 3 year period in franchise history.

Since he's been here, this will end up being the best 3 year period in franchise history.

Can't argue with results. Easily a top 5 GM.

Winning a Super Bowl is of course the gold standard. Considering where this whole organization was 3 years ago, where it is now, and how it's set up for the immediate and long-term future, I'd follow the Gettlefather into hell.

I honestly can dream in terms of not just A Super Bowl run, but a full-blown dynasty in the works. Time will tell if he's the best in the biz, but he's got a helluva better shot than all our previous ones. Combined.

I can't call anyone the best unless they have the hardware. Good? Yes. Top 5? Absolutely. Gettleman has put together a championship caliber team (with some pieces already in place, mind you) in three years, but despite what many huddlers believe, the goal is to win the owl, not to see how much you can get your dick sucked by ESPN.

My top pick is still Ozzie Newsome. Yes, the Ravens suck this year (though all of their losses have been by a hair, kind of like what we were until the Buffalo 2013 game and Riverboat Ron awakened), but Ozzie is a draft wizard, dating back two decades. And he's got the ringz.

Buddy of mine is from Wisconsin but living in Raleigh and I was giving him poo around Wed of last week. His response was "I already know you're going to win the game I've come to terms with it."

I was like Man this is the first time we've been 7-0 I don't really know how to deal with it.

To which he was like "You need to get used to it. Your GM is by far the best in the league and what he's done with such little time is nothing short of amazing. You're only going to get better and it will be that way for years to come."

Now I've thought the same thing for awhile now... but I'm a homer. This is a well educated fan (PhD from Duke) of another team that is exposed to the Panthers because he lives in NC who shares the same thought process. My Denver fan friend thinks the same as well.
