Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera....

The funny part about what you posted is exactly true.  I don't know how many times we've faced teams in desperate situations really needing a win, and those teams are SOOOOO hard to put away.  We put the Saints in the grave with their 0-3 start, we put our foot on the necks of the Seahawks and put them at 2-4, we ripped the heart out of Green Bay and put them in a spiral.  Facing a listless and downtrodden team is infinitely easier than beating a team backed into a corner needing a win.  Philadelphia still had hope in their season, Washington had hope in their season, hell the Cowboys had hope in their season, these teams with NFL talent were coming in fired up to take us down and get their ship righted, and each time we've stomped on their throat.

    • Nfl leaders don't look at the population of just the city itself.  Charlotte has three of the top fifty combined statistical areas within a 1 to 1.5 hour drive.  Charlotte, Greensboro/WS/High Point, and Greenville Spartanburg.  Those three statistical areas include nearly 7 million people.  Other than Raleigh, the only one in the top fifty within an hour and half of raleigh is Greensboro.  So only about 4-5 million people.  Charlotte has many more people to draw from.   Also, many of the surrounding communities for Raleigh are not native born.  If memory serves, many still refer to Cary as Containment area for relocated Yankees.  One of the reasons the Canes do so well is a significant portion of the population are people who moved from Northern Areas.  Would that population translate into support for a NFL team?  Hard to say, but I see a tremendous amount of Giants/Jets jerseys in the triangle when I forced to endure the crazy traffic on 40/85.
    • This will also be prime Training Camp meltdown time on here lol. Preseason game 1 August 8th, i'm guessing camp starts around July 25-27th
