Charles Johnson should be held to a higher professionalism standard than a dentistry student at Boston University?

Yes, It's part of the career paths.  Supermodels get called fat, Politicians get called idiots, and Lawyers get called liars.  It may not be right, but it's what people are to expect with their career field, you gotta have a thicker skin or you'll be eaten alive.  Frankly, IMO, it should be pretty easy to have a substantially thicker skin if you have 20million dollars to fall back on.

I don't see how anyone could seriously blame CJ in this case when the fan was rude. This is the same logic NBA fans have when they think they're entitled to say whatever it is they want to a player and he has to take it just becasue he's famous with a lot of money.

Some of you all really are letting your feelings for his play on the field get to how you feel about him off the field.

CJ's problem was that he made a big deal about finally being back in action (rightly so, good to see confidence) and then complaining about not getting PT in a blowout because "why do you have pass rushers if you aren't going to close out games with them" (paraphrasing).  When he took to Twitter to say that, he made himself a target. It's easy to say, "hey, you wanted to be the pass rusher...well, where are you when we need a pass rush".

I am of the opinion that I can't do what these guys do, so I don't target them online or really even talk bad about them. Fans, media, coaches, players: we all need to show a bit more respect. You want to say someone needs to show you more on the field, fine, but don't take it to the person's front door. To me, there's no need for that.

I say there are two wrongs.

Places like the huddle or hanging with friends is when you can talk freely as a "coach".  It is our entertainment after all.  Actually contacting players and talking poo in reality?   I don't think fans should do that.

as far as CJ's response....if you are an entertainer and boast about being a pass rusher and knock coaching.  You kinda are asking to hear some poo when you don't actually do it....ever....this year.  I don't know how healthy he is but I am sure he is frustrated which played into his response.

I actually do believe cj is gone next year and it's not based on this or Twitter. CJ is a great dude everyone knows this.  His cap hit is just so high for someone not producing. Unless there is some unknown injury he is playing through, him and Allen are gone and look for pass rushers to be added FA and the draft. Not necessarily high priced FA but some solid players. We are gonna get young on the line methinks.

The fan is wrong in this particular case, but CJ opened himself up to criticism of his play when publicly stating he should be in the game during a drubbing to accumulate sack numbers.

Mae could have certainly used him in the 4th quarter on Sunday when Matt Ryan went 12-12 passing at one point.

Let me see if I got this right he makes 1.25 million a game. So that's $300,000+ a quarter and that  means the $30,000 he donated came out to a minute and a half of a quarter.

Let  that digest for a minute.  1.5 minutes. $30,000

That being  said fan was wrong to belittle him on Facebook that's what a place like the huddles for.

He's straight up gone and he don't care. He should have a little thicker skin though

But I guess the truth hurts. He knows he's half assing it.

And I bet Getts can't wait to rid himself of that contract.

    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
    • Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
