TD having surgery this morning

I really hope they can get him patched up well enough to go.  Even if he can't go full bore, maybe he could at least play in obvious passing situations to try to limit his exposure to heavy contact while trying to stuff the run.  Just let this man take the field on Super Bowl Sunday.  If there's any fairness in this world, TD will play.

Fug that dude for jumping into him with his knees up.

Meh, it's football.  poo happens.  The guy was just trying to protect himself from the hits that were coming after making a really dumb decision to jump and attempt to do whatever the hell he was trying to do.

There are two bones in your forearm, the radius and the ulna. Radius is the more important one to function - it allows you to rotate your hand. Radius fractures (i.e., breaks) typically require surgery, while ulna fractures typically do not. Based on what I saw on TV, in that his hand was not hanging from his forearm, it looks like there was only a break in one of the bones with the other keeping the arm appearing straight. If it was a hairline fracture (not a complete break), I don't think he would need surgery, only a cast. It's not likely to be a compound fracture (shattering the bone into bits) - that would be nearly impossible to come back from in two weeks. So, I suspect if he is having surgery and is hopeful, it is to get a plate in his arm to support a simple fracture in his radius.

Plates are there to keep the bones in line so they heal properly, not really designed to keep the arm functioning as it would. Two weeks is not going to allow him to fully heal - it'll take at least a week just to let the skin heal from being cut open. Meaning it will still be broken during the SB, and he'll have very limited use of his hand and very little tolerance for pain on any shots to his arm if he decides to play.

I love TD and I wish he could play, but I don't see how he would be as effective as Shaq playing in his place. Still, TD deserves the spot more than anyone, and having the best doctors, maybe they can come up with something that will allow him to get him on the field. Either way, I'm rooting for him to make it in.

No, I'm not a doctor, but I did break my radius last summer and listened to a doctor.
