You just described New England over the last 13 years.

Patriots players historically are awful when they leave New England (or before they come to New England), but Tom Brady and Bill Belichick make them world beaters.

And that's a comparison I will happily take. Don't get me wrong, I think Gettleman has done a marvelous job getting players that fit what we do and that fit in, but I think the leadership and culture in the locker room set forth by Rivera, the coaches and the captains of the team is a major part of why this team is so good and it is so often overlooked. The environment the players are put in is one that is conducive to excelling.

I've always understood Gentleman. My questions only lied in Chandler/Bell at RT/LT last year.

But the Huddle?

"Kelvin's down! Trade for a WR!!!!"

"Michael Oher? Really? He wants to kill Cam."

"Gettleman is trying to sabatoge Can so he can draft a typical QB."

"He cut Smitty (this actually hurts me as he's my favorite Panther) and only bought in Cotchery and Avant? He doesn't care about Cam's growth."

We see things differently in this regard.  I loved Smitty, but loving the Panthers more it's clear to me and has been since his release, we're a better team without him.  The chemistry is different and it's allowed our all pro QB to flourish and take the leadership role he needed to take.

It was a painful move and shocking to many, but the long term gain is evident and because of that, I moved on long ago.  But certainly wish Steve well.

Not a false word or thought in that post.

#Smitty4Life but can't say I'd want him on this team.

It isn't so much they were scrubs with another team it was they didn't fit the scheme they were playing in.

Mitchell and Coleman are prime examples.  Players that fit what we do.  Mitchell has been good with Pittsburgh but was stellar here.  Coleman got snubbed from the Pro Bowl yet had 7 picks.

Gettleman listens to Rivera and the coaches and gets players that fit our team.   Many GMs think they are smarter than the coach and get players they think will fit without talking to the coaches.  We are fortunate G'man is like that.

Is Gettleman paying Voth? Voth has been riding this train for months, but the Rivera and Cam doubters in this fan base DWARFED anything Gettleman ever got. Gettleman has basically been on a never-ending honeymoon since he got here with very few detractors. Definitely can't say the same for Cam or Rivera.

It was meant to be Kugbila and Chandler. Credit Brandon Beane and the scouting department for finding Norwell and Remmers.

If some team were smart, they would give Brandon Beane a GM position. He has cleaned up a lot of mistakes over the past few years.

Ah, so you've given up trying to shift the credit to Marty Hurney and now you're going to try to shift credit to Brandon Beane.

Well, good luck with that.

(I'm sure it won't make you look ridiculously stupid at all)

Gettleman has had hits and misses like any GM. RR was actually afraid that he was going to be fired mid-season when the secondary was loaded with horrific players (Cason ect) in starting positions, and an o-line that couldn't pass block. RR said "we should have been thrown out on our ears for what happened." But Gettleman was new, and firing RR before the end of a season was not JR's style. My point is that Gettleman makes mistakes like any GM.

I love Getteman as our GM. He fixed our o-line for cheap. Incredible. We were in a terrible position at o-line, and now we have the best o-line in the NFL. Are you kidding me? Incredible. He's done some amazing things here, and he's also had screw ups that left our team in the lurch with terrible players. Such is life in the NFL. Gettleman is on hot streak, and we're streaking into the Super Bowl. I love him.

The guy isn't perfect. I don't know that I can ever forgive the Smitty thing.

But, we're in the motherfuging Super Bowl, and Gettleman has had a lot to do with that.

We aren't too far removed from people openly mocking him and calling him Nippleshorts... but the guy has done an outstanding job as a GM as far as I am concerned, save the one thing.

Yeah, I know... bring on the "Smitty did it to himself" comments or talk about how bad of a teammate he was... IDGAF what you all think concerning that...

Really? You have to hijack your own thread about Gettleman into an attack on Marty Hurney?

Do you have a problem with giving Brandon Beane credit for his personnel moves? It seems that you just want to make every positive move this team makes or has made about Gettleman.

Gettleman gives credit to Hurney and Beane. Why are you unable to do the same?

It's not an attack on Hurney or Beane.

It's an attack on your stupid post.
