If we were playing Manning from 3 years ago then it may be a little worrisome...now that we are playing Peyton "Fasani-arm" Manning, I'm not nearly as worried...

Noodle arm Manning doesn't need any assistance on where he can lob his floaters too.  Denver does have some great WRs.  Peyton can put balls up in comparable situations where Eli got us...b/c they weren't good throws just lobs to a spot.

Yeah, as has been stated, Man vs Zone is generally not that difficult to figure out. Heck, the average former player in the broadcast booth can generally see it.

There are things the defense does to disguise its intentions sometimes (showing blitz and then backing off, for example) but for the most part it's about how you execute.

I noticed it mid season and took me about two games to figure out what the tell meant without even watching tape. If I figured it out that easily then there is no doubt every team in the league has figured it out. The thing is that he doesn't really do it until the QB is mid cadence and about to snap the ball so there isn't that much you can do with it. Peyton will do dummy snap calls then back off and change the play, but if he's looking at Josh then he isn't looking at Luke and potential blitzers and Luke can use that to his advantage to know that Peyton is checking into a playing against press man and change our defense.

The only real practical application knowing the tell has is for the WR who is being covered by Josh to know ahead of time what he will do on an option route which isn't a big deal because the WR will know that before he gets to the top of the route anyway. There likely won't be the miscommunication interceptions but Peyton pretty much never has those.

There's a reason the WR that Prisco asked said that he knew about it but they didn't do anything with it and that's because there really isn't much you can do with it. As others have said a man in motion will diagnose man vs zone every time and you can also tell just based on the leverage Josh uses when he lines up. It's not like you can hide anything from Peyton anyway.

For all those who are saying it's easy to see if a defense is man or zone by sending a receiver in motion, that's mostly true, but you're missing a bit of the point here.  For one, defenses sometimes mix up man and zone coverages or disguise them pre-snap.  And two, the QB isn't the only one who benefits from this information.  The receiver directly across from Norman can benefit from this much more significantly than the Quarterback.

Overall, I'm not worried about this.  Norman is a beast and maybe he's even aware of this and that's why there were some cases where he didn't do it.  In poker, sometimes your opponent thinking he knows your tell can be worse for him than not having a clue.
