Mike Shula: "Cam wasn't good enough". Probably because you called a horrible game, Shula.

So what you're saying is we will be 0-1 after week one? Shula  isn't going anywhere, although it wouldn't bother me if he did.

I believe you will see Shula back off micromanaging the offense and let Cam play since it is the first game of the year. Shula will trust Cam to control the game, and we will see what we expected in the Super Bowl.

Cam was not allowed to change his protections like he normally would do. Why?

The one drive Cam did take over and made calls/changes the Panthers scored a TD. Then Cam was put back in the box with the Panthers down 6 points.

Shula kept Cam in a box and let him play his game when they were down by 2 scores. The coaches were fine being down by 1 score all game.

Adjustments were there but were ineffective.  I have an issue with Shula calling out the team in the quote and perhaps I am overreacting but I don't want to see our coaches calling out the team or individual players to the media.  We have enough of a feeding frenzy on this team internally without having a coach also participate in it.

24 hour rule…I need to abide by it and cool my jets.

Calling out?

How about accountability.

Our offense as a whole, failed to execute. So he was right by saying they didn't play well enough. The.mistakes and turn overs speak of this also. The offensive players have admitted as much.

Stop making it out like he's passing the blame.

Name me a Franchise where a Coach (LET ALONE A COORDINATOR OF ALL PEOPLE) publicly lay blame on any other particular group, ESPECIALLY THE FRANCHISE QB. I'll be at work ALL DAY, so I'll wait.

I think we can all safely say: the entire offense wasn't good enough to win the game.  Had we been able to put together two drives, it would have been a very different game!

From Shula, to Cam, to Rimmers, to everyone else, we just weren't good enough.

It's obvious he didn't have a good game.  He missed two throws the entire game.  Yall act like he played in a clean pocket and was missing receivers all game. How was he supposed to drive us down the field with a hand-off to the running back every first down?  How was he supposed to complete a pass under pressure with no receivers open and 2-4 guys getting to him in under 3 seconds?  How was he supposed to throw the ball, block, call plays, run the ball, and catch the ball?

Facts. Add on the fact that we have Wr's who struggle to get off, then have to run deep routes, against a team who was CLEARLY allowed to hold in the secondary. Cam is supposed to normalize the ass kicking the LT's were getting, the shitty running game, the shitty Wr's and the shitty coaching by Shula. Like I said, Cam is supposed to be this teams own personal Jesus. If he makes ANY mistakes, people highlight them as though no other QB ever does. Because he didn't walk on the defensive line or perform yet another miracle, these types feel let down by him PERSONALLY.

Only issue I have with the play calling is he didn't account for the one player that was killing you all game long. They just allowed Von Miller to dictate the game by leaving Remmers on him one-on-one for most of the game.

I don't blame Remmers. He's an undrafted free agent that was cut/waived by 3 or 4 bottom dweller teams in 2 seasons, before coming to Carolina. Von Miller could have easily been our #1 draft pick in 2011 if Jimmy Clausen didn't suck so bad in 2010. That's just not fair. And actually pretty stupid to not game plan for him.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
