Jake communicating with Cam?

Is there a Cajun to English dictionary?

They're both gunslinger quarterbacks who put it all out on the field. Something tells me Cam would get the gist of what he's saying, somehow.

For managing a game, he was the greatest.  Threw good, but not fantastic.  We now have an all around QB.

You REALLY do not understand what a "game manager" QB is.  Jake was NOT a game manager.....he was a gun slinger type of QB.

Let's face it, Jake was great. Good gunslinger, never gave up, could push a team or player to be better than they were, could rise to the occasion when the chips were down. He had his share of screw ups, but sometimes that guy could just call down a miracle.

And he was just a great guy and a great teammate. Had leadership skills well beyond his playing skills and he really did give everything he had to the game, never giving up.

But as someone said, that moment he grabbed his elbow was the beginning of the end.

Let's try to remember those great games and forget about the bad ones at the end. He was a hero in his day, don't throw mud at him because he became mortal, like us, again.

anyone who was at that Jacksonville game in 2003 gets it.

Or the San Diego game in San Diego when he throw a TD to 'Rosario Dawson'....aka Dante Rosario.  Or the Rams playoff game X-Clown to Smitty......when 'good Jake' was in the game, I felt the Panthers always had a chance to win. He was fun to watch.

I don't disagree on the gun slinger, because he would do that very thing.  I just don't think he was a fantastic qb, but managed games and kept us in them.  We may have a disagreement on what 'managing a game from the qb point of view is'.  I respect that.

one of my favorite jake stories was him talking trash to brian urlacher as the offense was kneeling out the divisional playoff game after the 2005 season

it was something i was thinking about when urlacher went to the media talking about how much he hated cam's touchdown celebrations back in january.  some of the guys on offense were cutting up and celebrating after kneeling it down in that game and brian urlacher yelled at them to act like they've been there before.  jake yelled back that they had been there and urlacher hasn't.  then he told him to bear down on his dick.  fun stuff.

The quote in that first line is not something you'll hear said very often, but it makes a lot more sense once you understand he's talking about Delhomme.

All indications are that he has no interest in coaching, but I've long thought Jake might make a pretty good QB coach if he were so inclined.

I love Jake.

Hadn't heard that one. Pretty funny.

Also remember Jake getting up swearing and pounding his chest after the cheap shot he took from Lance Briggs a few years later. Turned that game around.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
