Wrong, it can help but a top 10 QB can negate a pass rusher, Huddlers have very selective memory let me remind of you 2013. A balanced team will always be better. Also later part of 2015 was poo when Bene and Tillman went down. Broncos won because they had pass rushers and secondary to throw of the timing of our routes.

The 2013 team's problem was that the offense was boom-or-bust, either getting a TD or going 3 and out. Be reminded that the starting secondary consisted of Drayton Florence, Captain Munnerlyn, Melvin White, Quinton Mikell/Robert Lester, and Mike Mitchell... while those guys performed admirably, 'balance' was not the reason that defense dominated. Stick that secondary on this year's team with this year's pass rush and Carolina does not go 17-2.

Title is a bit misleading. He hasn't done anything to indicate he would miss any team activities at this point.

Just stories going around the beat writers now.. Plus I did say "if" this is playing out like that.

Why would he sign his tender? Once he signs it he is under contract and must me attend all mandatory functions. As long as he doesn't, he can't be fined for not showing up.

But we want him to show up for Mandatory function right??

The 2013 team is a perfect example of this. That secondary was about as average as it gets.

And they got exposed in the games we lost and the playoffs. A good front 7 does hide weaknesses but u can't expect them to dominante every game and every play, every weakness can exploited some way in football. 2013 vs. 2014 is even a big difference and we went to the superbowl with this unit. I think it's pretty clear at this point we are not gonna win a superbowl with a mediocre secondary  and nor should we settle. Gettleman knows this and he will put more talented back there.

He was good but our secondary still sucked in coverage, one of the reason we lost in the playoffs vs 49rs.

Actually he wasn't good at all. Which goes directly to @SmokinwithWilly's point you refuted. The Steelers should ask for their 25M back after signing him. Our front seven made him look that good.

    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
    • They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird.  pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.
