Remember the ol' Cam Newton/Marcell Dareus debates back in 2011?

Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has left the team and intends to enter a rehab facility.

“After careful consideration of recent events within my life, I have made the decision to enter a rehabilitation facility,” Dareus said in a statement released by the team. “I feel this is the best decision for me, my family and my teammates as I move forward with my career. I appreciate the support of my teammates and the Bills organization through this process.”

Meanwhile, Cam eats fish and occasionally goes to a strip club.

I love reading those old pre draft Cam threads. The people who think they know so much about football, we're so wrong when it came to Cam. Lol one guy in there was adamant the panthers were not taking a "running QB." Thread made me laugh, but I also miss some of the good posters we had back then: King Taharqa, DaCityKatz, JTNC, blackcat. They all fought the good fight, and were some of the originals of the Cam brigade.

In regards to Dareus, I hope he gets the help he needs and is able to resume his career without relapse. He's a good player.

It's truly amazing to really see how far we have come as a franchise since the Cam draft. I just rewatched some of his Auburn highlights and man he is exactly the same fun player that people surround themselves with. Now the Panthers are all dancing, having fun and taking pictures. Its amazing what 1 player can do to a franchise.

Those were embarrassing days for the huddle. It went well beyond simply being a decision though. Some people held that grudge literally for years just waiting for him to make any kind of mistake so they could gloat about being right.

Our drafts have been yuuuuuge since 2011.  Hitting on every 1st rounder.

Butler has a lot to live up to

We pretty much have nailed our first round talent since the Seifert era ended.

only guy flop was Otah and it wasn't a talent flop because he was practically an All Pro RT out of the gate

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
