I don't understand why people keep focusing on our offense

I keep seeing a lot of people complaining about our offense, going as far to say as forget the defense in the offseason and just focus on the O line. While we definitely need better tackles and blocking in general, that is not the biggest issue. Right now we have a top 5 offense, and you can bet your ass that if we had a top 5 defense, hell, even a top 10 defense would pretty likely be 5-1 right now. Getting our offense to being the #1 offense in the NFL wont do anything if our defense is still one of the worst.

We definitely need to address the blocking issues, but I definitely look for the bulk of the spending and drafting to come on the defensive side of the ball. Because honestly, if our players were healthy, I feel like we are a solid CB and good DE away from being a really solid defense.

If you want to win the SB your gonna need  above average Tackle and especially type of offense we run not named WCO.

There is always gonna be Von Miller type of player when you get to the post season.

We don't need to forget the offensive line. There needs to be major attention to that because if you want to keep your quarterback healthy and upright, you need a solid line.  Better blocking and a new OC is needed too. BUT with a 1-5 record, as a whole it's been steady. We can score.

Everyone is jumping on the offense because we aren't scoring. We put up 38 against the Saints. Big deal. That's like saying you scored at a whore house. We have played 3 of the worst defenses in the NFL. We should be racking up yards.

The problem is we can't score, Shula can't adapt his gameplan, and turnovers are killing us. The biggest problem I see is Shula. Teams have figured us out. Our tackles suck so speed rush off the edge, watch Tolbert flop on his blocks, and pressure Cam so he can't get in rythem. It's the same thing week in and week out. Someone pointed out, can't remember who or I'd give credit, that almost every snap from under center is a run and almost every shotgun is a pass. That's a HUGE advantage for a defense. Hell, why not just put our plays on the jumbotron.

Without Cam, Shula would have been long gone. He's wasting the best qb this franchise has seen.

The offense has had two really good halves of football, the second halves against Atlanta and New Orleans.  Other than that, its been as bad as the defense, and in some games (Tampa and Minnesota) worse.

Of course, it was pretty bad early in the season last year, and didn't get rolling until about the 5th game or so.  Last year, the defense was good enough to carry us against a weak early schedule.  This year, not so much.

What a totally stupid post. Fact. This offense is on track to be the second highest scoring offense we have had in our franchise history behind only last year which was our highest scoring offense in our history.  Shula has been OC for both. He is clearly the coordinator  of the best offense we have ever had and taught Cam everything he knows about a professional NFL offense. He was smart enough to see Cams potential and build the whole offense around him. Without Shula Cam would have never progressed as fast as he did. Most pundits felt Cam would need a lot of work to even be a starter in this league and by building the offense around what Cam already excelled at doing, it shortened the.learning curve substantially. He is optimizing Cam so he can be the best quarterback in our franchise history despite receivers which were often marginal, a running back who can't stay healthy, and tackles that wouldn't even be on other teams rosters.

Belly achin' about the offense instead of the terrible defense is the result of huddlers with an axe to grind about Shula regardless of fact, and that low football IQ fans see the differences in offensive play-calling a lot easier than defensive play-calling.

Bonus points for crediting Cam every time the offense executes, but blaming Shula every time it doesn't, or if the opposing defense just executes better.

Mix in some confirmation bias for good measure.  Posters rip Shula every time a sweep play fails, but then crickets when that trick play with Ginn throwing to Bersin in the end zone works masterfully.

    • I have more faith in XL improving than I do in Tmac being a true number 1 recuever
    • Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
