Article: It's still OK to clobber Cam Newton's head, apparently

Those hits were obvious and both were helmet to helmet. Honestly had they been called they would extended drives and most likely led to points as well. Not only is Cam getting hammered but it is not even benefitting the offense for him to take those hits. A double screwing all around.  Guy launch at Cams head all the time.

Honestly, might be crazy, but their QB situation isn't desirable. Nick Foles and Alex Smith both underperform in eyes of chiefs fans. In fact, before sunday, everyone wanted Foles back and considered him to be Brady level good and blasted at the chiefs for not starting him.

Spencer Ware though. I have him on fantasy. He's pretty good.

Cam multiple shots to the head again yesterday just makes me feel like we probably should just give up on the NFL and officials on protecting our QB.  Cam somehow still isn't seen as a "Top Tier" quarterback to get calls even in the pocket.  The Mark Barron hit was a little iffy and I believe if that was Rodgers, Brady, Brees, etc. they get the call.  The 2 I was more concerned about that literally had me throwing up my hands in "What the fug" fashion was the Donald helmet-to-helmet hit which was blatant as the sky is blue and the after Cam run when the linebacker or cornerback finished up the place with driving his need into Cam's throat.  I don't ask for the NFl to get more pussified than it already is, I only ask, no I beg for consistency!

I was eager for the football season to start literally could not wait, but after watching the 1st two games of the panthers and watching how he is being treated was enough for me not to watch any football. I use to clear my schedule for certain football teams now I barely watch..i come here and see if Cam gets any illegal hits..not even interested in if they win or anyone else...This is not football it seems more like a gladiator except cam has no weapons just at the mercy of the emperors...at this point I almost wish he didn't play but I understand that he wants to be Ali just painful to watch a guy do nothing wrong but is beaten up by everyone except for a few fans. Anyone that has any sense of decency can agree he is be hunted and the league has given them the ok.

People are still trying to justify his hits in the pocket by the fact that he's big, strong, physical and can run. I'd accept that but the excuse is old and worn and we know what it's code for. If you sneeze on Tom Brady, he gets the call. You damn near have to put Cam on a stretcher to get the call but even then, it's offset by an offensive holding. Some even think that he's confused (saw this on FT actually) by what he's talking about. Said he's confusing the hits and no calls when he clearly stated as a runner, he understands he's on his own. Nobody, not even the organization, is taking this serious though. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Maybe the Panthers need to start avenging some of these illegal hits.

    • Would Morgan or Beason have been HOFers' if injuries hadn't derailed their careers?  I was not a close watcher of the game when Morgan was in his prime but I thought Beason had a few seasons at close to Lukes' level of play.
    • Franchise QBs feast when things are rolling and the tide that raises boats when things are going sideways.  Bryce isn't that. He's a complimentary player, that's it.  When the defense and STs are on point, he plays loose and it shows.  When we are in a dog fight and things haven't gone our way, he struggles.  It's that simple. He's not a horrible QB, but he's not top tier either.  So the question begs, is this worthy of a second contract?  The answer should be no.  It definitely is my answer. Bryce will never be a QB that can produce wins largely on his arm.  That's a FRANCHISE QB, any other QB is simply a placeholder at the starter's position until that guy can be found.   At some point the excuses of lack of weapons will be a straw man.  Heck, it's nearly there now.  I mean if he doesn't look even better than last year will we blame it on the TE position?  'Well if Bryce only had a player like Kelce, Kittle or Gronk on this team...'  Are we really going to do that?
    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
