Steve Smith and Cam... they bumped heads

I'm looking forward to watching this. Smitty has always had a "Here I am, warts and all" approach to discussing himself, and his maturity has improved his self inspection.

Most exciting player to ever wear the Panthers uniform, but when Cam came along, he decided to stand in the path of the freight train instead of hopping on board. That put a timer on how long he was going to be allowed to stay.

His admissions now might be showing a bit of remorse. Just a bit.

Clausen was the worst QB I've ever seen. Literally never threw the ball down field. Moore was 10 times better.

Steve Smith was actually good in games Moore started in 2010. In the four games Moore had substantial time, he had 21 catches for 276 yards and two touchdowns. With Clausen as the starter? 25 catches, 278 yards and no touchdowns.

Clausen just sucks. He's the only quarterback who ever broke Steve Smith, and he played with freaking Rodney Peete and Chris Weinke.

Clausen made Brian St Pierre look barely competent. Some guy I'm almost certain went from sitting on a couch to playing a game for us in less than a week was better than Clausen.

But dang, we sure could have used him last February against Denver.

Aqib Talib would still look worse than Axel Rose's liver.

If only he could've been signed just for the Super Bowl. If we had to carry him for the entire season, we would've never made the run in the first place.

Talib spoke about the tone he had to set with Philly Brown after he made a play...

Now 89 would have have answered that statement whether he was or wasn't the WR involved.  Best believe that.

It was time to part ways. I wish it had happened differently, but they were two alphas that couldn't share the pack. I wanted Steve to go somewhere and win a Super Bowl. I hope that time will allow these two to know that they were lucky to play together. When 89 goes up in the ring of honor, I want Cam on the field giving him respect. Same for when 1 does.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
