My thoughts on Nipple Shorts presser.

Just finished watching Dave Gettlemans Press Conference.  Just some things that jumped out at me. I love hearing Gettleman talk. He's straightforward.  His tone definitely was that of a man that knows he did make mistakes. What I get from this though is that he was banking on going through the season with a band-aid and hoping for the best. He was blind sided by the injuries and that my friends started our trip down this crazy ride down the tunnel of sadness. I'm sure he would do things differently.  Probably sign some vets to ease things up. Hindsight.  It's a Bitch. lol. What I also noticed that really got my attention. It's almost like he tipped his hat a bit towards the draft. He mentions how deep this draft is with S, DE,  CB.  I believe we'll be drafting all those positions. In addition to T, C, and maybe a RB. Expect that 8th pick to be a safety. Especially with Malik Hooker declaring for the draft. Him and Adams are virtually alike. Either one would help that secondary.  One thing I didn't appreciate or approve of was his tip toe-ing of the blatant head hunting of Cam Newton this past season. Makes me wonder if it's coming from the top to not criticize the NFL and it's officials. I mean we have the damn NFL shield at mid field. I understand trying to maybe empathize a bit with the refs. But several times this season the refs missed blatant calls on purpose or not on purpose. This is an issue that does need addressing. Whether it's privately or publicly.  It has to end. As far as the "it's above my pay grade." answer for Steve Smith retiring a Panther. It was a very PC statement. I have a feeling the two are still bitter with each other, more on Smith's side than Gettleman. But he's right. JR is the only one that gets to allow that to happen. This season was definitely disappointing and dissatisfying but it will be a blessing in disguise.  A top pick under Gettleman is gold.  This draft is deep at positions if need. You then factor in that there will be 53+ mil after signing the rookies and we're in business. Ultimately we have to trust the process and hope they learn a lot from this past season.

Norman gone, we got 2 guys that are gonna be great

KK might leave and we have Butler to step in if need be.

Stewart might or might not have played his last game, RB will be addressed either way

Shaq turning out to be a good pro

KB, jury is still out, same with Funchess

I think so far, Gman drafts defense much better than he does offense.  But, I love the no BS approach, he is a business man, not a fan.  This is good for the Panthers.  I still love the guy

We're going to be alright. You can believe in the team or not, but you have to realize Gettleman will be here for a long time and he's built something good. Yes, this was a lousy year and there were a ton of reasons for it. But hell, you can't spend the entire off season moaning and whining. If you want to do that, become a Jets or Bills fan, or go back to being Redskins fans. The year we just had is what their fans suffer through year in and year out, with a revolving door for coaches and managers.

So quit whining about what's in the rearview mirror and start looking ahead. There's some pretty good stuff to see down the road.

I think he was trying to be pc with the refs questions.  There's no way he thinks Cam is getting fair treatment and saying so only makes it worse.   The best he can hope for is that eventually the refs will get over their dislike for Cam and start calling it fair.   You catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar, or some poo like that.

Sneaky little fellow over here, watch out for his word play.

DG actually said its deep in S, DE, & RB you could also see a little smirk in his face when he says it like its obvious choice.

dont forget about getting the right players for the coaches's scheme "cant plug a square peg into a round hole "

Man... OP is solid...

However, I don't think drafting a safety is a lock.

He said, last year "I think this is a deep draft if you're looking for O'Conner". I had to research what Irishman he was talking about and then realized he was saying "a corner".

We went DT because they thought it was BPA and, I suspect, prep for KKs departure.

So, I think we can assume that those positions will be our targets... just not any particular one at 8.

Could be DE, S, or (as he said with a smile) "Running Back as you all know"

I will be totally fine with any of those three positions. I have 5 guys I'd love for us to draft and all five play one of those three spots
