I see we are already mixing up our Kalil's. Only a matter of time hahaha.

And I agree with your assessment on the 2 TE sets. That is where Cam excelled his rookie year. I feel like that would benefit him tremendously.

We want to run. Having 2 TEs that can block and catch would be huge.

I also feel better about Larsen. Had no clue about him but was pleasantly surprised. Our next Norwell!

Dang.  I've obviously got Matt Kalil on the brain!!!!!!   Sorry Ryan.  I know perfectly well you play center and Matt plays OT.  OOPS!!!   I guess i need more coffee.   Add to the fact that it's 102 degrees where I am today and my brain is fried...  (no A/C. in the office where I'm working today.. only fans..)

The Panthers need offensive play makers, and no I don't count the two receivers just signed, they are role players to replace released role players

they need to come out of this draft with offensive play makers and I'm not talking Rd 4 and up

I really really agree with this sentiment.

I WANT us to draft a bruising RB and a great TE.  I also don't think we yet have the proven talent at WR we need.  With Ginn gone we're thin on proven WRs.  So I'm all for loading up on offense personally.

But given that we're SO OLD at DE and S and that it takes awhile to train up those guys to make an impact, I'm pretty sure both DE & S have to be on our priority wishlist too.

I honestly don't know how to rank the priority by position.  I *KNOW* we need new / better offensive weapons.  And yet we HAVE to restock at DE & S.

I'm so glad I'm not in Gettleman's seat come draft night.  Just the thought of having to choose makes me nervous!

Huge difference.

If OJ Hoard is the next Greg Olsen/Gronk then you do. Complete TEs don't come often (pshhhh if we got a 2 TE  we can actually run a pro style offense.). Keep up, dum dum.

Corrected

P.S. Like I said numerous time the ability of our Corners to play man and Wilks ability to utilize the secondary strength will allow us to drop a safety.

I would rather take Hooker over Adams for sure with Coleman ability to play the run.

Adams would be wasted by us. Peppers is another FS that would be good but he is not as complete as Hooker.

“We’re going to look to do a little more backfield sets in terms of two backs and 12 personnel with the extra tight end as the lead blocker. We’ve got to get guys like Jonathan Stewart rolling. We’ve got to put it in our backs’ hands and get the ball to our playmakers."

Above is Rivera's statements about the direction he wants to see the offense go.  More two TE sets and another primary back that can carry the load. Last thing he mentioned was getting the ball to our playmakers. So which highly rated prospects can help the running game (as a runner or lead blocker) and can break a game wide open: OJ Howard and Leonard Fournette.

Rivera also mentioned in an interview about wanting a complete defensive end that can play all 3 downs. Here it gets murky, obviously if Garrett was in play he would be the no.1 player on the board. They could also consider Solomon Thomas (Charlie Casserly said he is a 3-4 DE and we now Gettleman removes players from his  board if he considers them 3-4 DE or OLB) and Jonathan Allen.

I don't have any  Rivera comments about safety but I know they would like a long term answer to the position and I don't believe they consider Boston to be the solution.

As you said it all depends on how the draft falls and how these guys are rated on the Panthers board but I am hopeful we get a future pro bowler/all pro at 8.

And the winner is

@KB_fan

@Snake

@Jeremy Igo

@CRA

@Cracka McNasty

Jourdan Rodrigue at the Observer has a very good article analyzing how the FA moves could shape the draft.

She sounds pretty high on OJ Howard, seems to think that if Fournette is not there we'll wait until later in the draft for RB which makes sense.

She suggests DE is a less urgent need...

She seems to think that WR will be a pretty high priority.  But if we end up with OJ Howard and play more 2 TE sets, I'd think Receiver drops down the list a bit.  After all, Greg & KB already account for a huge % of targets.  I hope we're trying to change that a bit, but it seems that it's hard for more than 2 WRs to really make an impact on our team given Greg's role.

I'm more open with the idea of OJ Howard. Seems like a really good prospect, and if he can become a future TE for a franchise, it can warrant a high pick.

Wouldn't complain about picking him now. TEs being "reaches" when picked high is a pretty big misconception lately.

Well really its to the fact we run the ball 50% of the time means less snaps for passing plays.

RBs should be more involved in the reviving game so we are in really need of couple of slot WRs

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
