What time will the Panthers pick?

Tonight's draft (8pm Eastern) promises to be as entertaining from the Panthers perspective as we have seen in some time. So what time can we expect the Panthers to actually be on the clock?

According to this guy nick-schwartz_140x178.png

the Panthers will be picking at 9:19pm. Book it.

Of course this isn't an exact science, but for those of you like me who will be at band practice, just know you have a little bit of time between picks 1-7, unless we trade up for Myles Garrett of course.

jesus an hour to get to pick 8?

With trade possibilities and uncertainty throughout, yeah I could see more than a couple teams taking all their time or close to it. And a team could take 9 minutes then trade and the clock starts back up again for the team trading up, making it take even longer. Of course, one would think the team trading up knows who they're taking and has the pick in instantly, but who knows. I think my guess of 45 minutes is reasonable.

While all the analysts are talking about the last two picks...then they speak about the panthers for 15 seconds and move on to someone else.

"Well the Panthers just made a trade and drafted Leonard Fournette and OJ Howard back to back.  Now lets go to Dallas and see what the cowboys are thinking".

NY and LA market teams are the two picks before us. You can take that to the bank.

"Coming up after the break, is Tony Romo REALLY done in Dallas? We go live to Steve Young from Jerry Jones' colonscopy appointment, next!"

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
