RBs with the most broken tackles since 2015

I don't think it's just the run blocking, it was the play calling. Denver said as much after the Super Bowl that nothing we did surprised them. We have Cam and when he's on (like Stewart) he can make something out of nothing.

Also, I don't think Stewart's effort is lost of the coaches and GM as DG went out and got complimentary pieces to make the offense better not just a replacement.

God help us if Shula evolves a bit, we've got more weapons than ever.

Let's not forget that while Denver said we didn't do anything to surprise them, we went 17-1 up to that point and had the number 1 offense in the league. We didn't think we needed to change anything. There is a football adage that states you stick with what works and don't change just to change. Obviously they had a better game plan that day and obviously having been in the Superbowl 2 years earlier was a huge advantage. I don't know that you can fairly single out one aspect of our team to lay the blame on as you are doing.

I agree that Stewart still has value and will be an integral part of our team this year. And I expect that this year not only will we have one of the most diverse running attacks in the league but we will also have one of the most diverse offenses in the NFL incorporating many of the successful spread offense concepts into our scheme. The O line will be the key as will some luck in avoiding multiple injuries to the same position such as center last year or to key players like Kuechly for 6 games.

Finally Gettleman has focused on the offense and given Cam and Shula some of the weapons they have needed for years.

I honestly don't recall more punishing ball carriers than Stewart and Smitty...

Maybe I just have my Panthers homer goggles on, but seriously..

Beast Mode has some good ones, but both Smitty and JStew have the deadliest stiff arms ever.

Stewart leads in broken tackles because he is tough but also because he isn't very elusive any more. A guy like McCaffrey will have fewer broken tackles but many more missed tackles if that were a stat on offensive players and not defensive ones. The assumption is the defender made a mistake rather than the offensive player causing the defender to miss

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
