Does Your Opinion of Thomas Davis Change?

Just because I am curious...

There isn't a soul here that doesn't respect TD. He is the epitome of who you want playing on your team. He passes the eye test with flying colors and seems like a genuine, all around great person. I respect him. I adore his attitude and the way he carries himself off the field.

But.

Lets imagine that this decision was made because he wanted an extension, wasn't being offered one and he reached out to JR to express his displeasure. Lets imagine we get a "yes" man for a GM. Let's imagine that this extension starts a string of bad deals for aging stars and lets imagine we fall back into cap hell, and have no better than a 7-9 record to show for it.

Does your opinion of Thomas Davis change?

Still think he should get the second statue outside of the stadium.  All TD has done in your scenario is let JR know he was unhappy.  If he's THAT respected in the organization that JR would fire the GM over it, you should think about all he did to earn that respect and it hasn't changed.  All the doomsday stuff you write about is from other people's decisions anyway.

Depends a bit on what part he played, if any other than just being less than thrilled overall. If he (or any other played) actually went to JR and whined then yeah, hella lame. If JR took it upon himself to make the move based on some reactions then not necessarily his (or any other players') fault.

No one has any facts. The entire front page of this forum is filled with people speculating. Sports talk is 100% speculation during the months of June and July. This thread is no different. We're here to discuss scenarios.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
