Yep. It's Happening: "#Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney meeting today, league source said. Expected to be named interim GM."

For the first time ever, and ive been a Panther fan since the beginning, im starting to really think hard about why i should be invested in this franchise going forward.  I live 15 minutes from Metlife stadium where ownership actually knows what they are doing (Giants not Jets lol).  Its a shame because this team is actually very good, and i love the players.  I'm not throwing my fandom out, the heart likes what it likes, and i bleed black and blue.  But decisions like this can make you numb to an organization because it shows they don't give a poo about winning honestly.  Anybody for the return of Hurney wasnt a Panther fan before Cam showed up and that's the truth.  Hurney was the worst GM in the NFL, it wasnt close.

Man, I'm trying to stay positive but this move would leave a really sour taste in my mouth.

It's not because they fired Gettleman, I can honestly accept that he was a dick to people and just rubbed everyone the wrong way. What's bothering me is that the guy before him, Hurney, was so damn inept at his job that he put the team in the worst cap situation in the league, his replacement was brought in but was deemed "too mean", so now they're backtracking and bringing the nice guy back even though he's proven that he isn't good in the first place...

It just isn't a good look and it doesn't sit well with me.

And for those who say Hurney "Had an eye for talent", Dude was money in the first but ass in any other round accept getting lucky two other times with late round picks in Hardy and Captain. It's the other rounds where you save money and build depth, and he was horrible in both those regards. And he sucked with contracts. I don't want him anywhere near the negotiation table for Olsen and TD.

If he really is interim GM I wouldn't be surprised if half the staff in the building quits.

This is absolute unequivocally moronic bullshit. I've been a panthers fan before they even stepped on the field. This neglacence of the two most important things, winning and money is an utterly disgusting travesty.

Goodbye Cap heaven, hello Cap HELL. Those of you in Charlotte should seriously go protest this. Go show JR we will not stand for this idiocracy.

Protest all you want, the Stadium will be "sold out" both preseason games, and any and all games during the regular season and playoff (if we're so lucky after this disaster).

Why should JR not do exactly as he wishes....or the Browns, or the Jags?  The teams keep going up in value, and the owners keep making money.

Honestly, we were set up for longterm success about as good as a team can be these days.....nope.

Come back and tell me that when we are back in cap hell, half our players are gone and our record is piss poor.

Just go look at his horrible drafts in the past. Past the first round, he was straight garbage and had no eye for talent, which is why the TEAM was never a contender year in and year out because he could not build a FULL team together. The future is bleak my friend. We took 5 steps back as a franchise yesterday.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
