Ok guys...24 hours + of shock.  Now time to act like adults.  Things happen in the world we have no control over.  Some of them we like and some we don't.  Some we understand and some we don't.

The rampant speculation (I know all we have) as to why this happened....which many seem to have now taken as fact and are spewing venomous anger toward Mr,. Richardson and even the team and players is a bit much. If you are not going to continue to be a fan because of this....I don't think you were a fan to begin with....but I am not going to argue with anyone on that.

I still love the Panthers.........will support this team and have confidence in our players and coaches to continue to work toward the goal we all have for this team.

I do not understand why this happened...no one does.  It does not matter how many theories are out there.  I wish Mr. Richardson would tell us but he likely will not.  This is a personnel issue and that is universally treated with discretion among professionals.

I prefer now to turn my focus on the excitement of seeing Cam throw the football after all these months...to see our rookies in their 1st NFL action..and when the season starts..to see "The Evolution."

Nothing wrong with having opinions but a lot of this stuff is over the top..some quite unbelievable.  I am going to trust that Mr. Richardson would not have made such a bold move at this time if he did not have a good reason.  I do not of course know what that is and neither do any of you.

Calm down guys.

honestly DG was doing something wrong. I've never seen so many players trash an organization and GM after being let go and then collectively rejoice the moment he's fired.

in all my years following football, I've just never seen it.

some stuff was made public. some stuff was kept behind closed doors. either way, Jerry pulled the trigger, and all we can do from here on out is move on to the next chapter of Panthers football.

this is how we reacted when Smitty was let go.

this is how we reacted when Greg Hardy was put on the exempt list

this is how we reacted when we lost both super bowls

football is not a sport for the faint hearted. If you get super emotional after moves like these, I suggest you expend your energy on something else.

Good post.  Perspective is needed here.  The team is intact for this year and bringing in Hurney should calm down any dissension since he's well liked and respected within the organization.  I'm sure a better long term fit will be found.

If people can't get mad about things like this, then what are we even doing here? If there was no emotion involved in being a fan then what's the point? I'm not going to bash JR or any of the players, but I will say that there is no reason whatsoever to be in a hurry to extend a 34yr old LBer with another year left on his deal or a 32yr old TE with two years left on his deal. TD and Olsen are great players but all NFL players are replaceable. It happens every single year for all 32 teams and the one's who know when to cut guys lose are the same one's who tend to be contenders year in and year out.

    • It can happen but it’s nothing like the NBA. One player doesn’t make the difference in the NFL that one player can in the NBA. Also, there are just not the same amount of trades and even opportunities. Because the NFL isn’t just one stud away, you don’t get a lot of opportunities like Miami did with Tua or the Jets did with Zach Wilson. Both teams got multiple 1sts for players they traded (Jets had 5 1sts in 2021-2022 and Miami had 5 1sts in 2020-2021) and both got top 5 picks to select a QB. They both made some good and bad picks but Miami turned Tua into multiple playoff appearances even though Tua isn’t elite. Wilson was just so bad that the Jets still sucked. We had our opportunity in 2022 where we would have had 6 1sts and 4 2nds in 2023-2025 and probably had a top 5 pick in 2023 or 2024 for a QB without trading up. Unfortunately, Fitterer didn’t have the foresight to realize a full rebuild was necessary and when a team offers you 2 1sts and a 2nd for a non-QB like Tunsil and Burns, you take it. One thing I wish trades had in the NFL that they have in the NBA is protected picks. A moron like Fitterer could have a top 5 protected pick so his terrible GMing doesn’t accidentally give the Bears the #1 overall pick because the moron Fitterer incorrectly thought we were 1 player away from the playoffs.
    • Anyone that believes getting a couple late season wins to end the season at 4-13 while picking 9th in each round, other than 2-15 with the 1st pick in each round is not being realistic.  It happens nearly every other year, Jags gave the browns a insane package to move from 2nd to 5th. If not for late season pointless/everyone forgets late season wins the Panthers would have gotten that franchise changing package. Not to mention Panthers would have had Herbo and Sewell in other years, but nope. Do I need to bring up da bears??? The goal is long term winning in order to make the playoffs, one season to tank could spark it with a Burrow that's gets sacked 60 times on the way to a SB.  I want to win as bad as anyone, but the second the Panthers are eliminated from playoff contention, the ONLY solution is to lose the remaining games to gain a better chance to never do that again. No other answer.
